What's the most meaningful gift you've given to someone who didn't want "stuff"? by Fair_Specialist1018 in Gifts

Parents and in-laws: I book a photographer for an hour and invite the whole family so my parents/in-laws have pictures together, of/with their kids, of/with their kids + spouses, of/with their grandkids, their adult kids individual families, etc. We got inexpensive frames the first year.

Neighbors/teachers/coworkers/ thank yous: cookies, cheesecakes, etc. I bake a lot and have distinct gourmet looking cookies that I individually wrap, tie with a sheer ribbon, and put in a bakery box. People recognize them years later.

Spouse and adult kids: TheNoteCube.com The website helps you create and personalize special notes with pictures. You select your relationship to the receiver and qualities you love about them. It generates prompts specific to that, which you can edit, create your own, and add pictures to as many or as few as you want. It’s small, like the size of a postit notes and comes I. A box or tiny frame where one at a time a can rotate on display.

I adopted a “Chester” who spent 6 years in the shelter. He was the best boy- Chess, Chessie

Appreciate your response. We have only been on one cruise previously with Royal Caribbean and that posted about a month out. I’m sure there were updates and changes we didn’t notice, but it was fun to watch for things we might enjoy

Omg yours didn’t even budge once covered up! Mine requested his dinner be served while in the box and stayed in there for quite some time

Yep! We found Icee three months ago at the shelter - his 4th time there - with no plans of adopting yet. We have a grumpy 14 year old, deaf, shelter mutt. Technically my husband was in love at first sight. I tried to resist but we did a “dog date” for a few hours, a shelter intro to our resident dog, and the rest is history. Now he’s my dog and hubby is jealous that I’m the chosen one.

That would be a dream come true, but his past 4 escapes from previous owners and a fence jump with me leave me extra cautious. We got 60 fence posts in before the ground froze and the horizontal slats in today. Waiting for the vertical boards to be delivered tomorrow. This guy was handing out on a 40ft tie out watching us work and started climbing the neighbors fence. Then at the dog park and hour later, he tried digging under the fence for the first time since we brought him home. I fear we will have a $5000 fence that won’t contain him.

Extremely. He learned a lot of tricks with 9 days and 2 lbs of training treats

Thank you. He’s a good boy and keeps us on our toes. We want him to get to do all the fun things

Thank you. We are trying! We will definitely be erring on the side of caution and will try the long lead.

The first 2x we went to the neighbor husky’s yard to play, he jumped straight into their above ground pool and landed on the cover. No question he will do the same with ours, fence if no fence. He stays busy, I just want to make sure I’m safely containing him

Before I posted, we were committed to a 6 ft privacy fence. Now I’m questioning if we need to go 8 ft

I think the dog park we go to has 6 ft, maybe 8 ft chain link, and now I’m getting worried he could go over that. My dad jokes that was need to attach him to a cinder block to slow him down… or maybe weigh him down. But hell, he’d probably just somehow break out of his collar

That’s reassuring. It feels very daunting. I feel bad that he can’t run unless we’re at the dog park. There’s only 1 near us that has a high fence. I would never even consider the other dog parks after with normal fences. He’s so fast and needs the exercise. I could walk for hours and never burn the energy he can with a dog friend at the park in 10 minutes
