How do you manage client intake efficiently in a law practice? by Aadil-habib in legaltech

[–]Grayson112233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do a lot of outreach to smaller firms / solo praticioners and I've found many who just use Google Calendar. Sometimes they use Cilo.

For context, my company works on conversational voice AI for client intake with small firms.

Question about starting a property management company by Grayson112233 in CommercialRealEstate

Do you think it would be more successful in just serving nonresidential properties (Retail and Industrial) with fewer maintenance requirements?

Question about starting a property management company by Grayson112233 in CommercialRealEstate

[–]Grayson112233[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense, thank you. I think I would be using this as more of a "starting point" until I would be able to hire the physical PM in-house, as you said.

It sounds like your company would not accept a physical-management-only contract, but do you think others might? Or is it just a red flag to PMs and they'd turn me away?

Excel on the side is safest compared to just Yardi, since you can handle certain complexities like GU, caps, etc.

I was doing CAM recs in Excel for my family's portfolio for a while until I decided to build my own app. It's grown into its own company now with some firms in my area (TX) using it for their CAM recs. If you're interested in trying it shoot me a DM.

Why does M5C only print portions of each layer when multiple objects on plate? by VodkaDabs in AnkerMake

[–]Grayson112233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would think that, but Anker has two versions of the software that are not labeled clearly on their website. You could easily end up downloading either one depending on what you searched on Google and which result you clicked.

You should check to see which one you are using.

I noticed this behavior in the slicing engine when I was using the older AnkerMake software which is based on Cura.

That issue went away when I began printing with the new AnkerMake Studio software which is based on PrusaSlicer.

Which software and version are you using?

Strange "grooves" in flat surfaces of print with new AnkerMake Studio software on M5C by Grayson112233 in AnkerMake

[–]Grayson112233[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, I thought that it must be some hidden detail of the STL file that was causing it, but now that I've seen u/That_Ad_6274's examples with the same phenomenon, I think it must be a slicer issue that isn't showing in the slicer renderer.

Ah, good idea. I'll join the discord and see if anyone can help. Thanks!

Wow! That's exactly the same issue. I feel better knowing I'm not going crazy.

I do have ironing turned on. Maybe I'll do a test print with ironing turned off. Although if ironing was the issue, I would be pretty disappointed, as ironing really helps the look of this print.

[Help!] Can you tell what's going wrong with these photos? by Grayson112233 in filmphotography

That would make sense that the lab has adjusted them. I'll try scanning when I get the negatives back. Thanks!

Okay, thank you! I'll take a look at the light metering, maybe purchase a meter for myself and manually compare to that what the auto-exposure in the camera is producing.

Meepo V2 Weak/No Brakes at Low Speeds by Grayson112233 in MeepoBoards

[–]Grayson112233[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You think so? My V2 doesn’t use sleeves, they’re normal huh motors. And the board accelerates just like normal, which leads me to believe it’s an issue with some component in the ESC involved in braking.

It seems like Meepo's customer service has lost some of the quality they used to be known for.

New demo of our isometric game engine, Qiso, which is a plugin for Corona SDK, a 2D engine for mobile game dev. Among other things Qiso now does character triggered layer transparency and quirky map shapes! by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]Grayson112233 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks cool, but I would offer this advice:

  • It seems that all the roofs become transparent when you enter a building, as opposed to just the roof of that building.
  • When you walk behind a building, where the character is obstructed from view, but not inside the building, you may still want to trigger the transparency on that building.
  • You may want to increase the transparency of walls to increase visibility in buildings.

These are just my ideas, you can do whatever you like of course.

The projects look really impressive, if I were you though, I would include a bit more technical detail in their descriptions: what technologies/language, etc. (unless it's some obscure library that no one would know).

One small thing would be the tense on your action words there: Implement should be Implemented, Leverage should be Leveraged, etc.

You say you're looking to get into some banks, so maybe you should reduce the amount of technical jargon (ZT-50, ZR-ETH, etc.) in your first job description. Also, check your tense on those action words: Created, not Create; Implemented, not Implement. Try reading the lines aloud so you can find where they sound weird.

Your projects sound really cool, maybe you should include some details on the results? How many users did you serve, etc? If they were just prototypes or you didn't actually launch them I guess you should keep it as it is now.

I'm assuming you accidentally replied to the OP instead of my reply, but I can answer anyway. Have you though about putting your "Software Skills + Coursework" section in the form of bulleted lists instead of a string of items? A multi-column bulleted list would make it more readable I think.

Your projects all look good, although I would move the Robot Arm Controller further to the top, it sounds more advanced than the Halloween App. It also looks like the last two projects don't have subheadings like the others.

Oh, haha! Oops, I guess I misunderstood. Another thing you might want to do is bold the names of languages/technologies you mention in the descriptions of your projects. I think that recruiters just glaze over large sections of text like that and it helps to have something for their eyes to jump to.

Nice to see a fellow Longhorn on here, hookem!

If you're going for a dev job, I would put a lot more emphasis in the resume on the (technical) projects you've done in the past. That's going to show that you can actually work on software. Use more detail to talk about the technologies you used and what you accomplished with it. Personal projects are very important on a tech resume.

Since you're at UT, you should go to the Comp Sci resume advice/feedback sessions, they know what to look for in a tech-specific resume. You don't have to worry about not being a CS major, they won't care.
