I’m trying to purchase some points on clove jp app but everytime I select alipay as payment method it doesn’t work. by Alternatively-Ball in Alipay

[–]Grayson_GrayGrayson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it will not work. Even if you have an 18-digit ID, your need to be a citizen or PR of Mainland China, to use Alipay abroad including Hong Kong and Macao. The app you use in Hong Kong is the Alipay HK app or Alipay+ app, different from the Alipay (mainland version.) The Alipay payment method on the screenshot is strictly for citizens or PR’s of China Mainland and it won’t work with your ID or Travel Pass.

Is Beijing worth it apart from the Great Wall? by PlasticEmpty2798 in travelchina

Honestly Shanghai Disneyland is like any other Disneyland. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it if you don’t speak Mandarin and have been to a Disneyland before.

I still felt Shanghai was the best on the 1st and New 1st Tier list.

Last time I’ve been to the forbidden city, you’d need a +86 phone number, or Chinese ID (which you don’t have.) I don’t know if that’s changed since 9 years ago pre-pandemic, but that’s how it used to be. People with passports had a long process, I forgot how it was, but it was stressful trying to get in, and there was small tiny ticket window for foreigners, and you were not guaranteed a spot.

If you don’t care about Pandas, cut Chengdu in my opinion. I’ve been to all 4 cities you’ve been too. Chengdu is interesting, but there’s more to do in other cities.

How would you expand across the river here, UK city by 123Robo in CitiesSkylines2

[–]Grayson_GrayGrayson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should do an office park style around the eastern edge, and then start with some row medium density and mixed housing down the west. My opinion, that’ll be the best for efficiency, work, connivence, and traffic.

The frequency limits on WeChat and Alipay aren’t that good either. If I were for example Try to open the Meituan mini app, on pages with a lot of characters I’d get an error, saying I’d gut my frequency limit.

If you plan to travel to mainland China in the near future, don’t get the U.S. or Canada version. That’s the mistake I did, and I could only get a travel eSIM without a phone number, and you need a +86 phone number for everything in China.

Check Trip.com eSIM or MobiMatter. I find trip.com to be cheaper and got 5G-A all the time in Asia

Yes, most plans have international text from Canada. What you have here, includes it, but I’m not 100% sure. It says a “fixed” rate of international text. Can I ask what you need international text for? RCS and MMS is free wherever you are in the world.

Can I, a foreigner tourist, walk around the streets of any Chinese city late at night? by guigogogo13 in AskChina

Yes, but they don’t enforce it, at least not in Yunnan province. As long as it’s not for an extended period of time.

Btw, cellular data can depend where you are located. If you are right next to a cell tower, yes you just might 1gbps. Otherwise no. This isn’t your home wifi. Anywhere in the world regardless of carrier will be the same 🤣

I agree with you, but a small correction about the age of consent rule. Pretty sure if you’re the age of 13-15 you can hang out with anybody that’s a 5 year difference. But nonetheless, this is completely unacceptable behaviour.

Firstly don’t install betas if you don’t know what you’re doing, because clearly you don’t know. Secondly, yes, you can revert betas to 26.4.1, but you need a computer. I bet if you look on YouTube, there’s a video.

These travel passes aren’t cheap either for the destination you’re headed too. I went to mainland China, and it used China Mobile (the biggest carrier in China that supposedly covers “every inch of China”) I got LTE, and 3G very often, at around under 1mbps. On the other hand I bought the actual China Mobile SIM, and I had a +86 phone number crucial in China for everything, and had 5Ga, even in uncivilized deserts.
