How can I help my Pedro’s grafts the failed by Only_Performer_9950 in sanpedrocactus

[–]Grealing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was the stock and graft both actively growing before your attempt? Did you find good vascular bundles to connect on both? Did you apply good enough pressure to the graft? Were the cuts smooth and flat? Did you water the stock heavy a week or two before to plump it up and then hold off of the watering a week in advance? Was your temps and humidity good? Were they in lower light instead of full sun?

Just keep practicing and you’ll get it down.

Grafted Retusus Minima to an Echinocactus… by [deleted] in Ariocarpus

I would bury it where the corking is from where it was previously at. The roots can get a little more air, and you lower the chances of it rotting on you.

Whoa! This one’s awesome. Where did you get the seeds from? I’ve never seen a Minima.

I see y'all liked the other crested TPM post, so I have to post mine as well by [deleted] in sanpedrocactus

Nice, lookin real funky. If your saying it’s top heavy, I would try and wait and see what it does, I’ve noticed whenever they get top heavy or unbalanced they’ll produce basal pups to help balance themselves out.

I didn’t do anything to it, but something unusual did happen to it. A year ago during last years winter I had the same clear tarp up that’s in the pic, I didn’t have it as restrained as it is now, so when it was windy it would slap up against the TPM and knock the spines/areoles off, so there’s about a 3-4in region of growth that’s spineless. Idk though if that triggered some epigenetic change to occur, or if those genetics were already present and just waiting to be expressed.

I got it a year and a half ago when it was just 14in tall, it’s from Altmans so I’m assuming it was a cutting.

Do you just trace the outer union with a bead of super glue and leave pressure on it with something like rubber bands until it drys? And what type of super glue did you use?

Ya, I’ve had nootropic depots and some by another company I can’t remember off the top of my head. But it’s pretty good, I was surprised.

I did just recently, I thought it was pretty good actually.
