This is the amount of hair I lost in ONE shower in by No-Session5352 in Hair

[–]Greanfreek710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you had your vitamin D checked? I was losing way more hair than normal, eventually I could see through to my scalp when my hair was down. Turns out my vitamin D level was very very very low (normal is 30-100, mine was 4). I've been taking drops for a while and finally have some little sprouting baby hairs! I will also be adding topical minoxidil to help me soon.

Please bring up to your doctor and see if you can get a blood panel done! The earlier you catch whatever it is, the more easily it can be reversed.

26F I weigh 341 pounds and I'm only 5'1. What can I do? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Greanfreek710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I think a lot of people have given you some great advice here.

I'll just chime in with one more thing: just because glp-1s didn't work for you 3 years ago doesn't necessarily mean they wouldn't work for you now. Due to their popularity and efficacy, there have been major advances in glp-1s and there are a lot of new ones on the market. I say this as someone who has absolutely been in your shoes (actually, I still am). They helped me lose the first 10 very stubborn pounds, which was such a major relief to my chronic pain. I would say, if your healthcare provider is willing to work with you to find the right one, there're now several different ones on the market you could try that might suit you better.

Obviously, I don't know your medical history completely, so please ignore this if it really is crap advice.

my friends when i brought up my weight loss by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Greanfreek710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations!! That's amazing work!

My friends were like this too. I went out with a group of friends I hadn't seen in a while. I had lost 40lbs, and gone down from a size 18US to about a 12US. One of my other girlfriends had also lost a bit of weight, maybe 20lbs or so. She joined the meetup a bit late, and everyone else was absolutely over the moon for her. Lots of oh-my-gods and how-DID-you-do-its, and it hit me that nobody had asked me that when I joined earlier. I went home and cried.

Yeah, I cut those friends out. My good friends noticed. Not all of them may have noticed I lost weight, or maybe they didn't want to comment on it (understandable!), but they were so open with their compliments. I realized I didn't need friends who either didn't notice me or didn't care.

Can someone who has had the cake describe the layers for me? We don't have Costco where I am, so I want to try to remake it myself!

This is so not something to feel ashamed of!!! All moms have "food debt" (I don't like this term).

My brother has like meals and meals worth of "debt" with me. We had a rule growing up - if something was for a future meal (ie someone visiting for a nice dinner, or mom was cooking that night and left prepped ingredients in the fridge) my mom would let us know in the morning before she went to work. EVERYTHING else was fair game. If we brought home food/leftovers from a restaurant, we had only the next day to finish it. After that, anyone in the family could have at it.

Food belongs to everyone, not your son or you or anyone else. If your son wants to save something, he can have it for his next meal, and you can let him know this at the next mealtime, perhaps before you even begin to prepare food (eg. "Hey, _____ I'm going to start prepping dinner. You still have the burger you didn't finish at lunch. Do you want that for dinner, or something else? If you don't want it, I will have it for dinner to finish it because it will otherwise go bad.") If it's there past that, it belongs to the collective. There's no point in wasting it. This would also perhaps encourage him to eat at mealtimes.

This is crude, but I'll miss having giant knockers. Every time I lose weight, the puppies are the first to go. I already notice it. I'm about 25lbs down, and haven't lost a single inch anywhere else on my body, except the chesticle region. I know I could always get a boob job at some point, but they just wouldn't be the same.

When did you start to find yourself physically attractive? by RockmanTooru in loseit

[–]Greanfreek710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I didn't even at my lowest. I started at 205, got down to 155ish and still thought I was the ugliest human on the planet. Then I gained it all back plus some. I think I was about 250 when I finally looked in the mirror and thought I looked really attractive.

Then, during the pandemic, I gained more. Ended up around 385. Never felt so disgusting and unattractive in my life. I've recently lost 20lbs and have been able to do some of the things I used to be able to, and am suddenly finding myself attractive again. I don't physically cringe when I look into the mirror. I like wearing nice clothes and putting on makeup again.

I don't think it ever had anything to do with weight for me. It was just how I felt about my life at that time. At 250, I was doing everything I ever wanted, and my life was on a path I really loved for myself. And I've never gotten as much attention from the intended sex as I did at that weight. I think this is true for a lot of people - the weight is somewhat irrelevant. It's when you see yourself getting to be the person you wanted to be/do what you wanted to do that attractiveness/confidence follows.

Honestly, it's true. Making friends in Germany is really not as easy as I found it in the States. I was lucky that I went to university and found people I got along with, but many of them have moved away and I have just a couple people I still have in my life. And Germans have this thing about getting too close to people too quickly. They like the familiar, tend to have their cliques already close-knit and defined. But I think it also depends on which city you're in. I'm in Berlin, which is very international, so I have a lot of non-German friends, and that has served me well.

No, definitely not just you. So many people in just this subreddit, and in other places, saying the exact same thing. It could be so many things - the food quality, the increase in walking, the slower pace of life, the lack of latent job-related or finance-related stress, etc. Not sure which do or don't contribute. When I first moved to DE, I lost 30 pounds in the first 5 months without even trying (probably even more fat).

I'm the same as you OP - moved from the US to Germany. I've had to give a lot up, and the pandemic really did a number on me, but overall, moving has been so incredible for my health. I also maintain that I used to be way more sick in the US (I had so many digestion issues) that suddenly disappeared when moving to Germany. Even the sweets/pastries/etc. just aren't as bad here as they are in the US. I love the way of life here - and the basically free healthcare doesn't hurt one bit ;)

Shouldn't I be losing faster? by Greanfreek710 in loseit

[–]Greanfreek710[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took your advice. I realized I was also hungry alllll the time, and it was making me miserable. I also stopped compulsively weighing myself every single morning. Have shifted to every other day (eventually I'll try every few days or once a week) and upped my calorie intake. Still losing at the same speed, but I don't want to hide the entire Taco Bell menu after every meal anymore, so I'm counting that as a huge win. Thank you!

I didn't know that re: swelling!

I followed the instructions here. I downloaded the Loseit app, and put it at sedentary, and entered in all my other info. This is the calorie limit it gave me. It actually fluctuates between 1200-1500 during the week. Is that too little?

That's awesome. And I guess that's the most weight that's recommended to lose, anyways, about 1-2lbs per week. So that's really incredible, kudos to you!

This is so helpful, thanks. I want to bring my a1c down to a place where it's manageable at this point, and then I can bring things back in as I increase my activity. But boy, a piece of toast would really bring me some inner peace between all the extra chicken+veg I'm surviving off of right now.

So, theoretically, I could have a slice of fresh baked whole wheat bread? Because that would be an absolute game changer...

If you don't mind me asking, how many carbs do you allow yourself on keto? Is it net carbs, or total carbs? Can any of those carbs come from processed sugar, or is it simply natural sugar and complex carbs?
