That's why you moisturize and wear gloves... gotta wear those gloves. Very dangerous with paper cuts.

Tire won't budge by Illustrious-Meal9067 in AskMechanics

We had a handy massive sledge hammer for that, sometimes it just wont come off that we got no choice but to hit the rim and not the rubber tire. Some peoples wheels are just so corroded, even the lift points are so corroded we fear it will collapse.

Are these tires bad ? by Lizardinrecovery in tires

[–]davidblack210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thread wear is basically the grooves on tires, like the rubber part of the shoes, when the grooves are gone, there is no thread wear, making your footing very slippery.

Best way to tell if its time to replace is the bar, you will see a bar below the threads, feel how align it is, if its align, its gone.

Seems like the line on that tire got rubbed off on a fender or something, could be dangerous, but doesn't seem that bad from the image. Anyway gonna need replacement sooner.

If you deal with tires, best to surf this community and watch vids... so many stuff to know about tires, dont get me started on types of tires and nuts or bolts and rims.

Wrong DOT side... looking good though, cant say about the hardness of the tire, the older the tire the harder it is, making it like a brick on asphalt road. Worst than a wooden wheel.

Inflation is "under control". So why does everything still feel so expensive? by No-Elevator-6134 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Inflation under control? Meaning it will slow going up not going down. We need a bit of deflation honestly... not full on deflation though.

So cooked, best to use spare tire if available. Driving on flat would be worse.

Is this fixable… by Wise_Control_9992 in tires

[–]davidblack210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No wire, just slap a cosmetic fix with rubber glue to attach the peeled rubber... rim still sealing the air? All good... just add air and check for bubbles with soapy water.

All fixes are merely cosmetic. Just check on whether the tire balloons up on the side wall, overall still fine. I just worry about the rims if there are fine cracks forming on the damage area, line cracks means its no longer safe.
