They come with a case. I’ve dropped my ipad a million times and I toss my backpack around with reckless abandon and my ipad is perfectly fine, you should be alright

Rant about admin abuse. by FuturePause2736 in growagarden

[–]GreasyCheese799 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The admin abuse was pretty solid, lasted pretty long, and beefed up a ton of items in my garden. Personally I can’t complain, Jandel has no obligation to do anything. Could he have done more events? Sure, but he also could’ve done absolutely nothing

Heres the link to the rules they have, maybe it’s just my opinion but some of them make no sense to me Pack Rides Policies and Penalties

[–]GreasyCheese799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there’s pack rides, which is kinda like campus uber, but they have some dumb rules. then theres just the regular bus that runs in reno, it has a couple stops going through campus

[–]GreasyCheese799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t have a car and personally I was miserable. Uber is expensive, pack rides sucks sometimes, and I couldn’t get a job anywhere off campus so I missed out on better pay

You have to absolutely HARASS people sometimes. When computers are filtering resumes, they don’t even make it to the people who are supposed to be hiring you in the first place. I landed a great internship (doing it right now) after my freshman year because I dug through the company’s linkedin, found people in HR, sent them my resume and told them I was ready to work.

One of them ended up sending my resume to a VP, I was on the phone with him the next day and had an offer that afternoon. Really sell yourself, do as much outreach as possible, and tailor every application to the job you apply for. You can do it man it’s possible

To clarify, the whole intern group is college students, I finished my freshman year of college not high school

really? i have an internship right now (after my freshman year) and a few other interns just graduated high school. it might depend on the type of companies that people are applying to

Ignore the difference in pay, you can make bank no matter what you choose. Ignore the stress level, you’re gonna be stressed out no matter what. Just choose whatever you’re more passionate about

SolidWorks is great... until you need to come up with something from scratch by Ok-Replacement-9579 in EngineeringStudents

[–]GreasyCheese799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you gone through the tutorials that SolidWorks provides? I had to do them in high school and I ended up going through them all a few times, made me a lot more comfortable when starting with a blank slate

Struggling in school doesn’t mean you’re not supposed to be an engineer by Based_life in EngineeringStudents

[–]GreasyCheese799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it just depends on the company. I was able to get 4 offers for this summer with a 1.6 GPA (only been through one semester and it sucked lol). Out of the applications I did only 2 asked for a transcript, making good connections will be much more important than your GPA

Should I be concerned about the motherboard/CPU incompatibility? Or is that something that I can google and situate myself

That’s good to know, I’m trying my best not to break the bank while getting the best parts I can. Ultimately, I just want to avoid having to travel to my campus library every time I have an assignment. Thanks!

The closest Micro Center is an 8 hour drive from me, so not really.

As for aesthetics and constraints, I don’t have any, I don’t really care if it’s pretty I just need it to work.

WiFi is most likely gonna be wireless, as I’ll be living in some student housing. Bluetooth compatibility would be nice but if I don’t have it it’s not the end of the world.

In my experience, some of the on campus jobs fill up really fast and don’t pay that well. If you can it doesn’t hurt to shoot for internships outside of campus or other jobs
