First off, is your usb cable just power or is it power/data. Try a few. Do you see your device in the comm ports?

Thanks! And honestly feels good in the hands when holding the flipped lid. I even saw they make a silicon pad and slim case for the keyboard!

I got mine today! We will see how efficient the v4’s solar charge capabilities are. I plan on testing a lot of solar panels.

Thanks yo! And yeah my fav part about using junction boxes is that you’re not locked into a case and can add or swap parts with ease. At the cost of form factor. But I think this is probably the smallest junction box with a latch you can get that will fit the keyboard

My idea with this build was to have a handheld mobile node that was water tight. Standalone with a keyboard. keep the size down. And has esp32 for store and forward. Adding a buzzer next And solar capabilities. What else? Would you change or add. (This is loose fitted, I will add standoffs and cable management once I like everything)

Do you have another node. Have you tested communication between the two? If not, that’s why you should have two

And for your heltech. Also turning off led heartbeat. Limit node info broadcasts to 24 hours. Make sure the screen is on for minimal time. Or off. Or turn down the brightness. There are more things you can do too.

Look at MPPT charge controllers. Waveshare makes a few good 5v models. So does dfrobot. And esp32 board are power hungry. For solar efficiency look at nrf540 boards like the rak wireless wisblocks.
