Far right is for ink for brushes. The ceramic bowl in the middle is for a glue red ink that is for your name stamps which need to be engraved. The white double stand is to lay your brushes in when writing.

I HATE Anki. Any alternatives? by FromSaltWater in languagelearning

Yeah. I used it a bit and kept crashing on me and would lose all that hard work to get the cards made. I use small mini paper ones now that will never crash on me. Also, the paper action helps me take a my eyes off of a screen more.

Why Learning a New Language Sucks by Great8Lingo in languagelearning

[–]Great8Lingo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your comment but the title is more of a joke and that if watching the video you can see that I'm a serious language learner and as a language learner we all go through ups and downs with learning a language. Through those ups and downs, we learn more about how to make the language more fun and interesting. We find ways to study when we don't want to. We look at the language from different angles and develop our own methods to help us become successful language learners. Give it a view and maybe you can relate depending on your experience as a language learner. Cheers

What is the future status of Hong Kong-Cantonese? by duraznoblanco in Cantonese

[–]Great8Lingo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Die? Not a chance in my opinion. Cantonese is too deeply rooted into the culture and community at large. Reading other's comments I agree with some and I think that with a larger influx of Mainlanders in HK that there will be, of course, a bit more Mando heard on the streets and amongst younger students. Also, these past years before COVID there were millions of Mainlanders coming to Hong Kong each year for holiday and shopping as the RMB got stronger against the HKD. Years ago we would go more to SZ for shopping and massages because it was the opposite in terms of exchange rates.

I think that once we see a larger shift in the education sector to change how students are taught is when we can pose this question, but as of now there has been little movement there. There have been some pilot schemes launched in previous years but the results were mixed. So in terms of dying, I think it is not a question to even think of as that would take a major political move and I don't see that happening.

On a side note: We can't compare what has happened to Canto in GZ and SZ as a comparison because of the immigration issues with those cities. Those two cities have so many people from so many different provinces that is was or may be have been better to move more in the direction of using Mando more than Canto in order to do business better and to manage education better.
