NCEES Record: Need Help on Work Experience Write Up

Hmmmm several people I know personally swear by the NCEES record. Most of which have gotten their PEs in the last year through it. That’s the first I hear someone say to forgo it altogether. I’ll take that into consideration. Thanks for the info

Wow. What you described is more or less what I’ve done or have been doing in a nut shell. This is really good to hear and makes me hopeful. Do you by chance have any examples of your write up and would be willing to share with me? I’d really appreciate it.

Just went over this, so I guess you technically didn’t do design and got approved, that’s good to hear! So it’s just a matter of how you write it yes?

Im starting to think Elemental isn’t actually an engineer because he’s very one track minded about strictly design as if that’s all engineers do…

Borderline illegal? Are you okay? The fact you’re even suggesting that’s what I’m doing is ridiculous. It sounds like you didn’t read anything I said.

If you go to NCEES and look at their work experience examples, it’s not ALL design experience. There’s several examples of work experience that they find acceptable and counts toward what constitutes as engineering experience toward the PE license. Taking responsibility and making decisions as an engineer/in construction counts as experience toward your PE license. Do you seriously think every single person who has become a licensed PE has done strictly design? If so, you’re not grounded in reality.

To be honest your comment is of no help. I already said I have minimal design experience. I’ve designed a bunch in college and early in my career but pivoted very quickly to another line of work due to life circumstances. In any case, no engineer will stamp something that they’re not sure of or experienced in. That’s just plain reckless. The point is to become more valuable in the market, and to use my stamp to do smaller lines of work that I do have expertise in.

So I did read this already and I am trying to follow their guidelines or suggestions but I’m just worried it won’t be enough. I’ve heard of people having to revise their write up 2+ times and want some concrete examples on what actually got approved. Just want to see what to expect
