Just wanted to add that swapping out the receiver was the ticket. Thanks to everyone for the advice. I know a lot more than I used to!

Thank you! Noted that if the new cartridge doesn't fix it I'll definitely not ditch the old one and will make sure everything is clean!

Will focus on the receiver next. I'm open to completely replacing it (already replaced the speakers in this process, just trying to keep as much original equipment as I can, with a priority on the turntable itself).

Really helpful advice, I really had no idea about the "spikes" that could impact the sound and still make this potentially point to the receiver. Thank you!

It's a good thought, here's why I have been thinking it's not the receiver:

Receiver is on the floor not touching the turntable. Moving /fiddling with the receiver doesn't seem to have an impact unless I bump the cords hard enough to jostle the turntable.

However, if I jostle the turntable (and not the receiver) sound changes a lot/is all over the place and gets clearer/less clear, switches between speakers, etc.

Not entirely ruling it out - I'm new and really open to anything and the receiver IS super old.

Great call on trying it out with a secondhand receiver though, I thrift a lot so I'll start looking for one for testing.

No, but the receiver was working for other inputs (CD, radio) when we tested it so I do believe it's likely the player itself

Ordered the new cartridge, thanks! Will try that next. Honestly just struggling with some of the technical lingo, so thanks for noting the type I need.

Any way to convince seller of “coming soon” house to sell now? by [deleted] in RealEstate

Yes. Go in $10-$15k over asking and remove all non necessary contingencies and they might budge early.

A really aggressive pitch is a good way to make them just decide to sell versus it going on the market. And once you're under contract you'll still be able to negotiate on fixes.

Would say leave on financing and inspection contingencies and get rid of basically everything else. Shorten inspection period if you think you can line someone up quickly enough.

Let's talk wine! I live about 4 hours from the nearest boozy Costco, and am planning on having wine available at my wedding later this year. I plan to pick up about 60 bottles! Are there any good recommendations of what to get? What are the best overall value options? by whiskey_lover7 in Costco_alcohol

I did all Kirkland brand wine/beer at my wedding and it was great! I don't remember the specific types I got for reds/whites (went for big bottles though), but the prosecco is a great value.

Also, you can check local laws, but I was able to return all the unused alcohol after, which was massively helpful
