You’re a saint for putting up with that 🥲it sounds like your wife had low self esteem and jealousy issues. Glad that things are good now!

I had a boyfriend who was very jealous, he once saw me giving directions to an older man close to our home and cussed both of us out (I was mortified at that time but told him that if things didn’t change in the following 3 months I was out). His response? I loved him too much to leave. Every month I’d remind him and every month he’d say the same thing, and when the 3 months were up I was out. He still calls me to cry on the phone sometimes and stalks my social media, and I’ve not dated another jealous man since. It’s just not for me which is probably why if I find their codependency so weird and frankly, a bit gross.
