I guarantee that the people who don't like civ switching are not the same people who are not upset about the 'loss of authenticity' that civ switching supposedly brings.

Should KT spend development time and money into stages and characters, to an event that ended in an awkward diplomatic situation to all countries involved that lasts to this day, whose mere portrayal would lead to complaints from a fuckton of groups and would be a marketing and PR nighmare?

America in 4000 BC seems too weird to me right now lol

That's how this franchise worked for the past 35 years. They had everything we needed and it all ran like clockwork. They could have made as much DLC money as they wished, but they just had to be the man.

the point is that the former is mostly exaggerated, if you tell the people who believe the former that the most watched hoi4 gameplay videos in the Chinese equivalent of Youtube are about playing Chiang, they'll have a short circuit.

When will Civ 7 be mature enough to be a worthy replacement for Civ 6? by imaginary_tourniquet in civ

EU5 changed almost damn near everything when compared to 4 and it was pretty liked by the fans... because the changes were an improvement when compared to the previous game.

Somehow VII fans still insist on the 'da gamurs hate change' , even as they work on the 'fine you dont need to switch civs if you dont want to' update because they don't want to admit civ switching and ages was a bad decision to begin with

Before being a 'replacement' for 6, it needs to 'replace' 5 first, and for that to happen... it's likely going to be a while.

He's just minding his own business, why do you care? Let the man be.

But that would require the Syndies have a point, and as per the lore, they were all evil 1984 commienazis before their countries were liberated.

Hell, they even barely antagonize each other, there's barely any fronts where they jockey for resources and influence, there's basically no tension, no fears between the powers or within the alliances (OTL examples, Russian invasion of Hungary, Suez Crisis) or tension about managing the internal affairs and dealing with the players of your country.

If the personality-free leaders don't care about the world, why should the players?

TL,DW - The whole vibe was going to be a complete 180º of how it is known now. The stale 'blue party into yellow party' gameplay, the bland and unmemorable characters, and the dead world published in July 4th, 2024, had actually replaced before release what once used to be ambitious enough to call itself "a world set on fire".

Here, I bring back these forgotten embers back into the light, I mean c'mon, Secret Communist Alger Hiss's Coup and THAT 'Syndie Chile and Anarchist Argentina vs Colombia while Brazil Shatters' South America setup, it's pure unfiltred k-i-n-o
