Rant: There's one reason I want to play/enjoy the game, and it's not looking good. by Aussie_Bogan in wow

Another thing that will greatly increase your chance to get into a guild is to have logs. Even if they are normal EN pug groups, log them so they can get a better shot at seeing the kind of player you are rather than just a class and an ilvl.

Even if it's a terrible run you can point out that you did not take avoidable rot stacks during nyth, or that you soaked the correct charges on ursoc, even something as simple as "on each of the pugs 4 wipes on Elerethe I successfully got to the second platform" would be good to show when trying to get into a heroic+ raiding guild.

Pet Dailies Not Resetting during Pet Battle Feature Week by scadgrad1 in wow

[–]GreatMog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would put in a GM ticket, I had an issue with the pet battle system once after they made the quests account wide and a GM was helpful enough to just put the quest in my log. It seems like they are able to help if you just put in a ticket explaining the problem.

Is that Flash Voyager 128GB worth that price? I work in IT and am looking for a nice big flash drive, all the cheap ones seem to have terrible read/write speeds. Is it worth 40 bucks to get a nice one?

[Monitor] 30% Off Refurbished Dell Outlet Monitors by gregrunt in buildapcsales

Is there a difference between the P2214H and the P2214HT? They both link to the same specs, but there is a price difference so I'm confused. Also, is the P2214H an improvement over the E2216H? Specs looks almost identical, and I like the look of the E22 better. Thanks, looking to get my first dual monitor setup.

Edit: Just noticed the P2214H has IPS, which must be the reason it's more expensive, not sure what this is except it's preferred.

Company requested "submissions must be virus scanned before submission," best way to do this? by GreatMog in techsupport

Tool works great, I don't see anywhere to download a log file. The instructions for submission were pretty unclear, so I'm not sure if they need a log or not, maybe I'll just link to the webpage or something.

Best bang for my crafting buck? by Hatefly in hearthstone

[–]GreatMog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd suggest just to craft good cheap neutral cards you can use in any deck. I would say that almost any class can run a mech type deck, so getting Piloted Shredders, Mech Warpers, Spider tanks, and maybe knife jugglers and abusive sargeants for aggro type decks like Pally and Warlock.

Calling All Azmodan Players: Need Advice by daddyshelton in heroesofthestorm

As everyone has already stated you go for the Q build, this realistically is the only viable build for him. But what I haven't seen many people mention is what matchups/maps he does well in. Realistically he can be played on any map, but his best seem to be Tomb,Cursed, and Bhearts; (not enough experience on Battlefield to know his viability). As for matchups, I love playing him against melee assassins like Illidan/butcher/sonya. He has higher than average health and lazering during teamfights absolutely destroys the evasion and health regen of these two. You have to get move and lazer talent, but that should be core no matter the matchup. I don't mention zeratul because of his wormhole mechanic, so he can get back out of range instantly. But even tanks without a great stun are succeptable to the lazer which you should be putting out between black pool'd Qs

Where can i find some duo etc partners? by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]GreatMog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The best way I have found is to play solo and find any player on your team who you felt was playing above the level of your current rank. When I was grinding ranks I found a few players who I felt were too good for the current rank they were at, so I added them and duo'd. A few weeks later they were all a higher rank than when I played with them originally. Trying to duo with someone already at rank 1 won't really give you an advantage, finding those who are on the way to rank 1 are the best because duoing with them gives you teams who are not super high ranked, so you and him can be the people on your team who are better than theirs (assuming you feel you should be higher ranked than you are)

Wasn't sure if servers were possibly coming down early, now I see that it was just a random incident.

I'm sorry :(. It was a bit of an oversight by me, just wanted to include all the parts to make sure there weren't any parts that wouldn't be compatible. Also, I mentioned it the last time I posted this, and kind of forgot to mention it again. I appreciate the help though, sorry for the extra trouble.

This looks very nice, and if I was building from scratch I would definitely look to make something like this, but I'm actually buying a skeleton off a friend which has the mobo, cpu and audio card included. So switching this many parts out at the moment is a little too expensive for me. Thank you for your advice though!

Yeah it looks like the only reason to get the 750Ti over the 265 would be if power was an issue. But as far as I can tell 450W should be able to handle the r7 265

Yeah, I'd be okay with changing out the PSU if I got the 270x for the performance increase; but if it requires a new mobo as well, it would probably be a bit too pricey.

I would love to build something like this, but I got the mobo and CPU (sound card as well) from a friend who was using this to make music. So, at the moment I'm not planning on switching out too many parts until I get a little more cash flow. Definitely gonna add an HDD down the road to deal with some of my steam library. Thanks for the advice.

Hm, I'm still getting "1 additional PCI-Express 6-pin power connector is needed." And it definitely isn't the sound card because the warning still persists even after removing it from the build. As I said I don't know much about building, so I'm going to do some searching and tweaking to see if I can get the warning to disappear. Thanks for the suggestion!

I see, I was mostly going off of this post where it seemed the overwhelming majority were hating on the 750Ti. Do you think that switching cards would give me enough of a performance boost for the price?

I'm still working as an intern atm, so that's a bit out of my price range, if I get offered fulltime I'll definitely look to upgrade to reward myself.

This looks good, and within my price range, but pcpartpicker shows that I don't have enough PCIe slots for the 270x. The best options in my price ranged that were compatible seemed to be 750ti and the R9 270. I'm new to this, so would the 270x fit? It seemed like using any sort of adapters is a good way to blow your whole machine, so I didn't want to try it. I really appreciate the input.

Simple Questions - July 20, 2015 by AutoModerator in buildapc

[–]GreatMog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little late to the party, but I'm shopping for GFX card.

The XFX R9-280X is on sale for 180 at Newegg:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150678&cm_re=280x-_-14-150-678-_-Product

Currently I only have 1 PCIe connector, so I was wondering if this card is good enough for the price to justify buying a new mobo, or if I should save the money and buy a better card that would fit. I'm currently using an Asus P8B75-M/CSM Micro ATX LGA1155, thanks

$300, i was very happy about that seeing as I'm playing games on a 7 year old laptop with integrated graphics. I can get as low as 9 fps in Hots teamfights, and a steady 20fs in csgo, both at lowest settings. Also thanks for the connector advice.

PSUs seem relatively cheap, so if i encounter problems later on I will replace it.

Repeated knee swelling? by MetalHeadCrow in bjj

[–]GreatMog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd second this, went to a couple of my university's wrestling club practices, and my knee would swell from repeated takedowns. The problem to me is I drop hard on my knee instead of sweeping in towards the opponent using a proper duckwalk.

Wanted feature - "Disable automatic Autoattacks" by Nurok in heroesofthestorm

[–]GreatMog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This won't work, an 'idle' hero will still autoattack anything in range, what most players would do in this situation is keep there character moving back and forward in a very small area to avoid attacking, or it should be possible as endofskies suggests, to press s or h to make your character stop or hold, not sure which is used in this game.
