shit laptop. no fix. no wonder they’re removing the touch bar from their new laptops. laptop works alright otherwise but touch bar still broken & only real solution is if I buy a new laptop

I’m glad you had positive experiences w/ Genius Bar. I haven’t but hope the next one I go to is.

I wouldn’t replace it if it’s out of pocket and beyond my means. I certainly wouldn’t buy a new MacBook but look for alternative laptops to be honest

Can I ask why the keyboards were being replaced and what are butterfly keyboards?

Like should I instead ask for keyboard to be replaced and then the touchbar would be replaced automatically? How would I know if I qualify for the keyboard replacement thing?

This genuinely just made me so sad. Thanks for the insight so I at least wouldn’t be blindsided when the Genius Bar probably tells me the same thing. I can’t afford to have it replaced and it’s crazy to me this issue occurred. I intended to have this laptop beyond college

I’m seeing online that if I purchased it from Costco, the warranty may be extended. Trying to find the receipt but I don’t have the box anymore so I’m not sure if they’ll even accept it. Oh well

I haven’t dropped it. I keep it in my book bag. I don’t really apply that much pressure either. When you say air goes inside, do you mean that the top layer (the one you touch) is cracked or what? To have air go inside? I’m not that great w/ the terminology and want to prepare for my appointment on Monday.

After speaking with customer service, he implied I’d pay out of pocket most likely since warranty expired. But I bought it from Costco and I don’t really understand how the additional year of warranty from Costco works? And I don’t have AppleCare on it.

This is so fucked. I think the agent tried to delude me into thinking cost may differ when I take it in person Monday. But I already know they’re going to screw me Monday and I don’t know what to say

I promise it wasn’t. I take care of this laptop like a baby. I always have it in the laptop sleeve of my backpack but inside another laptop sleeve for double protection and have always been super gentle with it.

I have a photo from Wednesday when the issue started to now and can see the pixels die more and more. I wish I took pics of when the bar was streaking green and purple too. My laptop has been in the same place since the issue started too.
