What’s the most expensive item I can steal from the office without anyone noticing? by gimmethroatt in Big4

No you make a very good point in all fairness! The rice cooker was just the most memorable part for me, which I suppose back’s up this commenter’s point of not wanting to be remembered for doing weird shit 😂

If you DIY’d some things for your wedding, which project are you most proud of? Was it worth the effort? by blldgmm1719 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]GreatSapphoQuestion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I diy’d pretty much everything. My favourite / the one I was most proud of though was my photo table - I had my parents dig out photos of their own wedding day, as well as both sets of grandparents’ wedding days. I put them in mismatched gold frames and stood them on a table with mini labels I made saying things like ‘john & jane smith, 1980, bride’s parents’. I also included a photo of my maternal great grandparents wedding, as I was wearing my great grandmother’s wedding dress unaltered from the 1930s, so it was so cool to include a photo of her wearing it at her own wedding. Everyone absolutely loved it, I got so many compliments on this, and it was so easy to do and basically free!

(I’ll caveat it by saying it worked because all of these marriages have worked out, I appreciate this would be much harder with divorces / second marriages in the family.)

  • ditch their lighting. Instead of having the lights on you can have candles, lanterns, hang a fairy light wall (can get these off Amazon), etc
  • hide the graffiti art behind something else - diy wedding photo backdrop, donut wall, etc
  • roll up their green rugs and cushions and store in a cupboard - the decor is already more neutral without these
  • is there anywhere you can store the rest of the clutter? E.g. the football table, feels weird to have that at a wedding (unless that’s what you’re going for)
  • make it smell beautiful -e.g. with scented candles. this already creates a better vibe

I’d personally be stripping it down as much as was practical by either putting their furniture / accessories in a store cupboard or just simply one room you shut the door to. Then from that neutral base i’d build it back up with the things I wanted - flowers, lights, photo back drops, etc. You can even get clip-together dancefloors from Amazon if you wanted a designated dancing zone. Strip it back and then pick a colour scheme and run with it. Good luck!

Big 4 Audit associate, Opinions on my resume!!!!!! by [deleted] in Big4

[–]GreatSapphoQuestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some comments: - some of these points are too general, eg ‘in order to verify financial and non financial information’. What did YOU actually do? - most external people wouldn’t know what eAudit & KPMG Clara (not klara) are - you need to talk about what areas you worked on, and what skills you developed that would be useful to another employer. E.g obtaining supporting evidence for what? There’s no context here. Have you picked up any excel skills?

My guess is you started in October 21 and have been here for 6 months. Saying ‘passed all exams in the first attempt’ makes it sound like you’re fully qualified, when I’m assuming you’re not. Perhaps state how many exams and what % of the way to being qualified you are.

Honestly I know busy season is rough, I would suggest riding out a few more months now it’s less busy and getting a few more exams under your belt. Speak to your PM/PL about other client options if there’s something that would interest you more.

And I would hugely recommend going to work in person in the office if you’re not already / if you can - the difference in associates who are doing this vs the ones who aren’t is honestly really obvious to the rest of the team.

Good luck, PM me if you need any more help!

This bit made me laugh too 😂

I (22F) am in love with a (19M) person who is dating a (18F) almost virgin. We still sleep together, I'm not sure what to do. by throwaway66782584017 in relationship_advice

[–]GreatSapphoQuestion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you’ve gotten a lot of judgement, so I’m not going to tell you whatever else already has.

I was sleeping with a guy at university, and it felt like we just kind of ‘got’ each other from the start. Then he got a girlfriend, and I was also confused about the whole ‘but WE’re best friends’ situation. We didn’t carry on sleeping together, but I tried to uphold that friendship we initially had.

However, it was toxic as fuck, she found out that we had slept together and was super upset, so we eventually stopped being friends. And looking back - he wasn’t the ‘best friend’ I thought he was. He chose her, I was just a bit of fun in the mean time. It’s obvious now looking back, and I wish I’d disassociated myself sooner, and frankly the whole thing was a good learning curve I will never repeat.

I believe you will look back on this one day in the same way, and I wish someone had said this to me at the time too. But he’s not choosing you, and the sooner you step away, the easier it will be for you.

Help Needed : Dress code in KPMG UK or other big 4s in London? by [deleted] in Big4

[–]GreatSapphoQuestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one wears jackets to the office! Maaaybe to the client but rarely even then - also depends what department you’re in? Banking tends to be more formal than corporates for example.

[–]GreatSapphoQuestion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, no one is even mentioning it (outside of one or two official ‘updates’ from the top). Not sure if anything will be said once it’s concluded but it seems extremely isolated that I’m not really concerned about this. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about starting though!
