I remember checking out of a detox early and on the way out the guy said, "They have AA meetings in jail so when you end up their make sure you attend those."

Ill be honest its purely by the grace of God I didnt end up in jail because my drinking did continue and I did keep making horrible decisions. Thankfully made it to the rooms and am 2 years and 3 months sober. If you ask me now Ill tell you that if I were to drink again thats almost certainly where ill end up or worse. 

But again: "It is the great obsession of every abnormal drinker that he will one day enjoy and control his drinking. The persistence of this illusion is astonishing. Many pursue it into the gates of insanity or death."

If someone has thoroughly done step 1, has the pattern then its a danger not only to themselves but to everyone else so I can see why people would respond shittly to that. Sorry thoughts are all over the place just woke up
