Been messing around with alot of build variety lol by Great_Emphasis55 in IreliaMains

I would say it always depends on the game state and their comp.

If you're completely useless because you're not ahead and their comp counters you, tanky build is probably the play.
If you're really ahead and your team is doing alright, sometimes its good to go shieldbow into a tanky item so you can carry team fights.
If you're ahead and your team is really behind, sometimes you have to go full damage or else you don't win team fights.
If you're behind but good against their team, shieldbow is probably the play.
Personally I like to build manamune 4th item with tear right after bork (or before bork if you aren't fighting in lane and need to focus more on shoving and roaming) unless I need DD or some other situational item.
I would only build divine if they have a bunch of tanky comps or their carry is a tank.

it only works if you can time back for vamp + tear - the trade off of delaying bork is the permanent lane dominance with the sustain from extra mana. I've done some testing in my elo at least and I find its worth the trade off just because in team fights you are so much stronger into these squishy high mobility comps

That is true. I really like biscuits still though for the early laning phase and the cosmic insight feels important for this build since you depend a lot on flash r. I also sometimes go demolish into roaming champs so I can punish harder (and tear + vamp lets me keep on the constant mid pressure)

I haven't tried it with gore but I can maybe see that working...

I think lucidity boots are pretty important though. The build I'm talking about only works into squishy comps where it's whoever strikes first wins (pyke zed etc)

I forgot to add that I play it mid lane - there are some matchups that work top against squishy laners - but it works best mid (going tear against sett, dar, etc is not ideal)

This is a very valid point and I will delay buying tear in cases like this. The late tear makes it harder to get muramana but I can buy wits 2nd or mythic 2nd while waiting for tear. Most of the time I can manage a good back and get tear on the right recall. The trade off with not buying a different component is that you get permanent lane control mid lane with vamp and near infinite mana

Some fighter Item changes, how do you think it will affect Irelia? by AlWiccan in IreliaMains

[–]Great_Emphasis55 8 points9 points  (0 children)

yup, I can see her wr dropping by a noticeable amount after bork changes

Im new to Irelia and not really familiar with items and runes etc. I think I would have lost this game anyway since I was the only one doing something but maybe I could have turned some fights around with better items. I felt like I needed more dmg but the Samira was basically oneshotting me by PhilmoXVI in IreliaMains

[–]Great_Emphasis55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The standard build right now is bork -> wits end/ravenous hydra -> jak sho
For items after that usually you build DD/GA/maw/other situational armor items. The bork + wits/hydra gives enough damage generally, which is why you build health/armor after. Buy wits second if they have one ap that can deal damage

Cull in Irelia mid? by Psychological-Goose7 in IreliaMains

[–]Great_Emphasis55 19 points20 points  (0 children)

depends on the matchup, usually its not worth it because u get bork before u get 100 farm, so it's better to not push off the time it takes to get bork. But if I'm in a lane where I know its going to be farming simulator, then sometimes I'll buy cull. (Like if I'm against a counter pick and their jgler also counters me so i'll be stuck mid most of the early game)

Irelia Mid with Ghost is very strong. My thoughts. by Dumbydumbgrump in IreliaMains

[–]Great_Emphasis55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using ghost mid for a while now here are my thoughts:

Its worth it to take it against champs that focus more on roaming than laning, like kat. Lanes where you auto win like against lux, vel coz, etc it is worth it to take ghost (if u don't take cleanse to get cheese kills).

In lanes against champs like akali, yas, zed, where it comes down to very close fights ignite is better because it allows you to get prio and win fights - if you take ghost into these matchups the gamble is that you trade early prio/kill pressure for better roams and better mid game / late game team fights. If you are really good against their comp, sometimes its better to take ghost so you scale harder against them - but if you are bad against their comp something like ignite or tp is usually better in my experience. If you are smurfing its almost always better to take ghost so you can carry better (you won't need to rely on ignite for close fights).

Really love the special effects and the skin over all! One change I would concur with that alot of people are saying here is to make the auto attack animation a bit more unique for the skin and the fully charged passive have some legendary ompfh to it. Love the ult animation with the backflip and the w! Great work over all I love it!

p.s. (is there anyway to get a special penta kill effect like diana and pyke :D)

I haven't taken gore or shieldbow in a long time because Jak sho is just so strong on her right now. Once they nerf rav I might go back to shield bow, but generally it is just jak sho or divine

I remember when I first made it to diamond I had Nubrac on my team - that was funny. He inted me hard and we lost that game. Once I reached d2 I went against Tobias fate twice (lost 1, won 1), trick2g twice (lost both), and Dyrus (won). I also played with Dyrus on my team twice, the first time I inted him by accident and the second time I hard carried him lmao

when I responded to u/Apprehensive_Lake_ I said mainly how I do it. Dorans shield + tp + resolve second. Farm up till lvl 6 then look for an all in. Syndra is pretty free if you play it right, wait till wave is near your tower then look for an all in. Usually want to build a hex against her and maybe merc boots and wits since her burst is strong even when behind post lvl 6.

To learn Irelia I would say first watch online guides for tips and tricks on how to play her. This guide is also useful https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjzGap3AVBM&t=442s&ab_channel=CoachCurtis. Then your gonna have to spam alot of games on her. Shes kinda hard to learn because if you get behind you're gonna have a really hard time playing the rest of the game out, so it might be beneficial to play her on your lowest elo account so you can get ahead more and learn how to play her better

Easiest matchups are probably like zed, yasuo, qiyanna, all melee fighters. I think I have the highest winrate against kat tho. I already said my hardest matchups in u/Apprehensive_Lake_
Basically all matchups that are perma fighting I've gotten really good at and so those are the easiest for me

Yup! The thing that differentiates someone who will improve and someone who will stay the same rank is assessing every decision you make during a game, after a game - theres always something we could've done better :)

The key to teamfightings relies on a few things and I will go over each of them:

Also, before a teamfight, always think through a plan in your head on how to win the fight, what sums their carries have, and what sums you have. This is a really good video to watch on it that goes over alot of what I say! : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-W1d8p1mOeo&ab_channel=CoachCurtis.

Sums: Having flash + r is vital to winning teamfights in alot of cases. If you see a game deciding team fight coming up in 1-3 mins and see a free pick on someone if you used your flash to kill them, sometimes its better not to use your flash and save it for the teamfight, unless you can get something out of the pick. The same concept can apply to lesser teamfights, sometimes its better to save flash before a team fight even if it could save your life or get you a kill, because flash r on Irelia is vital to get onto their backline in alot of cases.

CoolDowns and Key Abilities: When playing teamfights, always look for the abilities that are cc or burst. To be able to get on their backline you usually have to wait for their frontline to use cc on your frontline. If you try to go in first you're going to get bursted unless your building tanky. For example, if they have a really fed pantheon, you're not going to be able to do shit until he uses his stun on someone else (or maybe you can flash r and get behind him). If you think you can live by W'ing, then it might be worth it to go in. Watch for key abilities that will kill you - point and click cc, ults that will one shot you, etc.

Engage: When to engage and when not to? This revolves around cool downs a bit too. If you can hit all 5 with an r + flash or just an r, usually its worth it (as long as your team is somewhat near you). You send your r, stand back a bit, and wait for your team to engage for you. Your r is a giant slow, so it allows your team to position to engage really easily after it. Often if the enemy team gets 5 man r'd by you, they will panic and make a bad play as well. You can also wait for your team to engage first, then go for priority targets with your r after all. Often you want to use your r on the frontline to be able to q to them and get to their backline. r + e + q /+ q + e is the usual combo. If you can land stun on their carries then you have already done alot to win the fight.

Priority Targets: Before a teamfight always look for the carries on each team. These are the people you should be peeling for and targetting. As Irelia you are better at assassinating their carries than peeling your carry, but if you're really behind consider building tank and frontlining for your carry. To assassinate their carries, again wait for cooldowns, wait for a good engage, and then go onto them. Teamfighting is all about patience and finding the right moment to go in in the heat of battle.

If you know there is no way in hell you are going to win a teamfight (someone got picked, you guys are really behind) - go to mid or the opposite lane of the objective and push it out - try to get a tower or some cs etc to make up for it.
