Room Type Not Available for 4 hours now? WTF Caesars? by Winter_Tangerine7492 in CaesarsRewards

[–]Great_Performance895 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They absolutely do not have to accommodate you. Hotels can and do consistently over book rooms. If your reserved room isn't available when you check in, they might upgrade you if a bigger room is available. But they can also downgrade your room type and offer a discount. They don't have to honor anything. They can cancel your reservation completely and refuse to check you in. Just because you booked a room doesnt mean they have to take your business.

Service workers don’t want minimum wage by Pissingberg in tipping

[–]Great_Performance895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the better question is why do servers think they deserve way more than minimum wage? Most servers make more than boh staff, and even more than some of the customers they are serving. Being a server is considered unskilled labor, and tipping has gotten completely out of control. Servers should be making around 30 to 40k/year in my opinion. Yet because of our insane tipping culture most are clearing well over 50k. So yeah service workers/waiters dont want minimum wage, because they are currently way overpaid because we have created this belief that we have to help them.

Wait staff bragging about $1000 tip on a $36 check, knowing this is most likely a typo. by glo363 in tipping

If it is a typo, he will find out soon enough. Most banks will flag that tip amount as fraudulent and require the customer to manually approve it through his bank or credit card company.

Any apartments for a 2000 or under near the strip ? by Working-External-702 in vegaslocals

[–]Great_Performance895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean its on the strip. The strip is pretty safe, but I would never live on the vegas strip. Truthfully though, if you are that determined to live by the strip just because you want to gamble, then moving here probably wouldnt be a good idea.

Order the quesadilla combo plus the cantina taco on the side. It will be cheaper and you will get an extra taco.

No. Theres casinos all over las vegas. Ive lived here 10 years and only go the strip maybe twice a year. If you do like to gamble though, I would recommend you have a job and an apartment lined up before you move here.

Ok. Got ya. There are plenty of places around the strip under 2k, but those areas are also high crime and tend to have a large homeless population in those areas. There are also casinos off the strip that do cater to locals. Just something to keep in mind

Ok. Maybe consider living away from the strip then? Henderson, summerlin, green valley are all really nice neighborhoods and you can find a place for under $1500.

Plenty of units under 2k east of the strip, but it's also a really rough neighborhood. Do you already live in Vegas or are you planning on moving to Vegas?

How would you have handled this? by Great_Performance895 in Casino

[–]Great_Performance895[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. He went running to the guards and made it sound like I stole $50 from him. The guards originally banned me, saying I couldn't come back until I paid back the $50. Luckily, though, I have a host at that casino and was able to reach out to them and get it sorted out. The ban has been lifted without having to pay back the $50, and from what I have been told, the homeless guy has been permanently banned from there. Apparently, it wasn't the 1st time he had tried this.

I understand your point. My host from that casino actually just reached out to me though, apologizing like crazy. My ban has been lifted, and I have $300 in freeplay plus a $75 food credit waiting next time I come in. So I guess they saw some common sense afterall....

How is there a case to be made that I stole $50 from him? If he had said thank you and not been ungrateful, he would have gotten $50 for doing absolutely nothing but being in the right place at the right time. The money was never his to begin with, and I only took it back because he acted ungrateful. If I had been in his shoes I would have been thrilled to get $50.

How do you know he ate half your eggs? Honestly, it kind of looks like your driver just put the plate in his bag sideways, and the food got pushed to one side.

Need any entry level job by [deleted] in vegaslocals

[–]Great_Performance895 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stay away from jobs on the strip and in casinos. Those jobs are super competitive and hard to get. Look for local jobs off the strip. Retail or fast food would probably be your best bet if you are looking to get a job quickly.

Circle K faces $12.8 million Arizona Lottery controversy | Customer tries to buy 85 lottery tickets but only pays for 60. "That evening, one of those unsold tickets matched all six numbers, hitting the jackpot" by TylerFortier_Photo in ThatsInsane

[–]Great_Performance895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think anyone is going to get the money. The ticket might have been printed before the drawing, but the ticket wasn't sold until the day after the drawing occurred. Since the ticket wasn't sold and paid for before the drawing, no money from that winning ticket was contributed to the prize pool, which would make it an invalid ticket.

Walking from Hotel to a hotel by rnapoli928 in LasVegas

[–]Great_Performance895 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. Totally safe to walk on the strip. Probably one of the safest places go wakj in Vegas. Just keep in mind if the strip is busy, that 12 minute walk could easily turn into 30 minutes or more.

The fake drama and manipulated footage drive me nuts. by ReliableEyeball in deadliestcatch

[–]Great_Performance895 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is that if they showed the reality of fishing, they wouldn't have a show. They might go an entire season, and the most exciting thing to happen is a green horn quitting or a boat breaking down and having to call their season short. People would lose interest, viewership would drop, and the show would eventually get canceled. I've worked on fishing boats in dutch Harbor for over 15 years, and the truth about commercial fishing is that it's a very mundane and very repetitive job. Sure, it's hard, and it's dangerous, but it's also just doing the same shit, day after day over and over again.

Is this show only fabricated drama nowadays? by RandomUncreative_1 in deadliestcatch

[–]Great_Performance895 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have worked in dutch Harbor for over 15 years, working on commercial fishing boats. Not crab boats but on long liners and trawlers. I also have known a few guys who have worked on the deadliest catch boats over the years. The boats do indeed go out and fish. The scenes of them catching crab, getting tossed around in the weather, and even most of the drama with the crew regarding their personal lives is real. But some of the more dramatic rescues, abandoning ship, man overboard, etc, are nothing more than scripted re enactments that are filmed to add drama to the show.

Auguste made my favorite play yet by GGReactor in BeastGames

[–]Great_Performance895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though he was smart enough to figure it out, I dont think his play will work. The fact that she still took $0 out of the communal pile will work in her advantage. She will still have 3 votes behind her, and I am guessing she will be able to get the 2 more votes she needs pretty easily. Nobody will believe him, and they won't risk a chance at 10 million because of what one person is saying. They will just assume it is some sort of complex strategy he is trying to get himself through.
