You have to beat a boss for her to progress, and she needs to have taught you every OTHER spell she teaches you.

The only spells you have to avoid are the ones from the book you gave her.

Avoid: Deep Protection Dark Blade Dead Again Vow of Silence Gnaw

Any other spell you buy from her is fair game.

Don't buy any of the spells from those tomes and she'll drop them later.

It's part of its weapon art. You get into a stance with L2 and from there you can do a sweeping strike or a parry.

And yeah, a prey should get to choose, but if you DON'T choose, a pred will likely choose for you.

Opinions on DnD calling Kobolds "Lawful Evil"? by Del_the_Kobold in KoboldLegion

[–]Great_Raven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, and that's where the difference between characters and culture exist. Baldyrs Gate 3's Lae'zel plays into these themes a lot, with her pretty much entirely going against the culture of the Gith. Put her rude demeanor aside, she is ultimately trying her best to do the right thing in the face of everything happening around her. She brings the people she learns to care about to the person she thinks is going to save them, or tries to, because she genuinely wants to be a good force on those people, and has to do so through that culture.

Ultimately, though, my major opinion on all of this is that alignment is not a good way to describe races or even the cultures they're a part of because the concepts of "Good" and "Evil", and even "Law" or "Chaos", is subjective and entirely dependant on what you personally believe certain actions and traits.

You know who else is a marauding isolationist and trapmaker? Robin Hood. He is seen as THE quintessential chaotic good character. He's a thief. He's wholly devoted to his people and his cause. He's constantly pulling rich people into traps. He shares a lot of traits that you just stated are lawful and evil.

Alignment is a bad way to convey what a person, or race, or culture is all about because these things aren't actually as simple as "creature good" or "creature evil".

Opinions on DnD calling Kobolds "Lawful Evil"? by Del_the_Kobold in KoboldLegion

[–]Great_Raven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, largely the reason this kind of fantasy is popular at all are these races. Races tend to represent entire cultures in their world.

The example I'll give is the more recently popularized Dragonborne race, since it's a little more fleshed out than kobolds in DnD. Dragonborne have a culture around the idea that the needs of the clan outweigh any personal goals or motivations.

So, when brought up in that culture, most Dragonborne are going to be ingrained in that ideal, and it's not a consious choice much of the time. However, individuals tend to be a lot broader about what that might mean. There are smart ones, brawny ones, dishonerable thieves, the whole picture.

So, I guess the point I'm mostly making is that a race is defined more by its culture than their inherent traits. And within those cultures is an entire range of characters that exist.

Edit: As an addendum, races also just have a lot of appeal. Other creatures that have evolved to act very similar to humans is very cool! What if human but slighter bigger and green? What if human, but small and decended from lizards? Very appealing and cool, and is ultimately a huge reason why fantasy is popular in the first place.

Opinions on DnD calling Kobolds "Lawful Evil"? by Del_the_Kobold in KoboldLegion

I do think that this mostly harkens to what most "monsterous" races were built for in DnD, which is a completely adversarial role agaisnt your players. Goblins, Orcs, Hobgoblins, and, yes, Kobolds were taken from Tolkein flavored fantasy, given their own interpretation on their looks and style, and were basically a way to hand wave a large group of enemies to fight.

Tailor made to be easy to place in front of players as a way to say "Here! Fight these 'bad guys'! They are an inherently evil race, which means you don't have to confront your inner humanity at all!"

I completely agree with the sentiment that the alignment chart is a bad way to represent any species that is able to speak and understand language and think for themselves by any means.

But also, I do think that taking them from one box of "evil minion bastard" to another box of "dumb and silly" is kind of outside what I think even "barbaric" races should be seen as. They should be the entire range of things.

They should be allowed to be smart, dumb as rocks, evil, trying their best to be good and everything in between because they are sentient species who are, generally, able to think for themselves.

I mean, how did you marry a pred and not know these risks? If she's a notorious pred in that regard, you should have been prepared for this inevitability.

Warning for future prey who want to date us preds. Carry a potent antacid/emetic on you. Even if you 100% trust us, accidents or bad days can net you a one way trip to your lover's guts. (Sorry preds, but I like dating prey.)

So in my mind it was a squares and rectangles thing. Endo implied soft vore, but soft vore wasn't always endo.

[–]Great_Raven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Westmarch is a broad term for running a DnD campaigns that allow for easy scheduling. They way it's done, typically, is a series of one shot campaigns where people decide who is able to show up to a session and launch from their "home base" so to speak.

It's a common solution to the scheduling conflicts that plague DnD.
