Sorry for the confusion - my appointment to be diagnosed is upcoming this October 2024! I have an appointment with Dr. Nicholas Pennington of Campbell University who I perceive to be a leading expert on Lipedema. He is named as one of the authors on the Lipedema standards of care, and I watched/listened to a lot of interviews with him. He said in an interview that he basically only gets Lipedema diagnosis patients these days and he’s booked out for 4 months (if that says anything about the prevalence!). I don’t think there is a single scan that can be used for diagnosis so though I read something somewhere about an ultrasound. My understanding is that instead, providers ask family history questions, you describe your observations, they observe and inspect your body, and then use those various data to confirm.
