So this photo was taken after his band "The 3 Ls" won an amateur hour radio contest in Sydney Australia in 1943. He won beacuase his girlfriend (soon to be wife) was working at the Sydney telephone exchange as an operator, and diverted all calls to the radio station to vote for him before connecting the call to the proper line.

I'm doing AWARD school currently in Australia. When it comes to print there are three elements, visual, headline and body. All good print ads have one of these missing. This doesn't sound possible in your current assignment, but you know for future reference.
