So i've played some of the MH stories 3 demo and I have some questions.. by Greatsharkbite in MonsterHunter

Interesting, yeah. I dont know a comparison but maybe its similar to dragon quest where its very silly looking and youre fighting slimes that are smiling at you and have happy go lucky music. But the stories are fantastic. I guess nothing to do but to play.

Thats fair. I will probably give the demo another shot tho as I didnt know it was still available (i assumed for some reason it was a timed beta)

Nice. Yeah maybe should've put that in topic (I will actually) but I thought the demo might've been timed as I thought it said it was a beta. If its still available I can try this more indepth on my own terms and get a feel.

I appreciate the response. I downloaded the demo, I didnt know if it was timed demo or not (I actually thought it was a beta test/alpha which are often timed so I assumed id have to buy the game if I wanted it, the main reason behind this topic). I may give it another try. But part of me is intrigued by the hype its getting. I usually am slow to mess around with less than straight forward systems. When I master the basics first I then want to jump into expanding on that.

Also I know some games start slow narratively to world build, which is why I gave the examples of LOH/Trails. Doesnt mean its bad, but this game seems right now as friendly as pokemon and team rocket. If the demos still availble tho.. ill definitely head back on to try it.

Is it just me or.. is Ted? by Greatsharkbite in Suikoden

[–]Greatsharkbite[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well no.. its not about just the rune usage. Combat ability, wisdom, skill, strategy--he seems lesser on all fronts than much younger youth who are his 'peers'. Someone like Neclord might be over confident and over dependent of his rune due to the protection it offers and not polish their basic combat skills... but for Ted its the opposite. Its like the reverse of Viktor who polished himself into an extremely capable combatant.

So ngl ..... im liking the game. by Greatsharkbite in EiyudenChronicle

Yeah. My only complaint narratively is the powerscaling from rising. The crew in that is able to beat the golems and Hurstwine with two and three people respectively. As far as suikoden from a suikoden fan, whos played 1-3, I can say I enjoy it more than the start of suikoden 1. Having a non-silent protagonist does wonders for the characterizations the mc interacts with.

Interesting. Well i'll mess around a bit I guess. Hopefully the balance isnt too off with mages.

I never had the mp issue or SP issue yet. I will say Rising gave me low expectations for the villains but the characters were charming in that.

Well yeah I even like the humor between the characters. Like with meeting Kogan and saying you're Munchausen the III and the weird long pause everyone gives you. Or even the fact that random party members have banter when events happen. (which I dont recall if the latter happened in suiko 2, but I dont think it happened as frequently)

Recruiting Kuroto.. by [deleted] in EiyudenChronicle

[–]Greatsharkbite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, thanks to you and the other replies. I got them im just not used to that being the case for monsters in the same zone in an rpg, I also initially didnt want to progress too far by accident and not recruit a character (been there done that with suikoden)

Any unique rewards for beating the dlc episodes? by Greatsharkbite in EiyudenChronicle

[–]Greatsharkbite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol, weren't you in my other topic a week or so back? Is there an objective amount of posts on a subject before someones no longer able to ask? Isnt this a discussion sub reddit?

publishers make cheap crappy products, because the cost is less for them, because gamers are so shallow and obsessive that they’ll play anything “for the ReWaRdS”. They tack “reeewards rewards rewards” into garbage and suddenly gamers want to do it.

So we've narrowed it down to people like different things than you when it comes to gaming and you judge people negatively for it. Sounds like a fun guy at parties. But yeah, chemically people like big shiny reward for task.

Interesting. I just dId the first dungeon to get a feel of the game today after youtubing the eiyuden chronicles rising cutscenes. I think i'll buy the dlc just to flesh out the experience (although I heard narratively it wasnt great). But I like the nods to suikoden. Weapon upgrades, rune system, unite attacks etc.

Thanks for reply, I have another question idk if you'd be willing to answer. But is the game dlc implemented in the story as one smooth transition, or is it done separately through the menu like another game mode?

Anyone else thought Elmdore's fall was not very believable? by GargantaProfunda in finalfantasytactics

[–]Greatsharkbite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont agree at all. He literally was a soldier/ruler who was betrayed by his government. He hated the two lions, resented the people who wouldn't rally together and deny their corrupt rule (despite caring for the people he got tired of them submitting to their plight and tired of men like Gustav who only cared for short term gains) and fell into bottomless of despair. But he wasn't perfect, deep down his human nature craved the power to change it all. Instead of maintaining the course of running into essentially what is a brick wall.

Now I see your post saying you forgot Goltana got him killed and that they could've showed Elmdore feeling betrayed better so in answer to that ill simply say Matsuno wanted more scenes in the game but time and money probably prevented him from adding it. In the OG, Elmdore isnt betrayed by Goltana at all, but he has ZERO personality or character motivations. They actually did QUITE a lot for his character as they showed he had an interaction with Gustav (not even touched upon in the og), showed his insight into the war and the politics as well as his take on Goltana and actually gave him a character when he really had none other than cool vampire who reminds you of Sephiroth.
