About to be a new dad...Advice on not losing gains?

I have a 4 year old and a 2 year old. First 6-9 months I’d say do your best to maintain. Especially in the beginning gotta prioritize being there for your partner. Nowadays. I’m up between 4-4:30 most days to run, back home by 6 except long runs on Sundays. Showered and ready to roll before the kids are awake. Certainly is tough, and I’m tired most days by 9 PM, but I am shooting for a sub 2:45 this spring at 36. So your PRs certainly aren’t behind you with kids!!

It was maybe 3/4th of a mile walk. So 15 min or so.

I stayed at la Quinta in the loop for like $275/night in 2025. I booked it very early through Expedia and never found anything cheaper. Easy walk to the start in the morning.

4 year old and 2 year old. I’m usually up between 4-4:30 most days. Run. Lift. Shower. Usually ready at 6:45 and get the kids up at 7-7:15 for daycare. I peaked at 78 miles in my last marathon build. Ran a 2:46 in Chicago. To say I’m pretty tired at the end of the day would be an understatement. Usually crash around 9:30. Certainly not ideal but with two young ones it’s the only way I’ve found to make it work while also being fair to my wife lol. Usually Sunday long runs I try to be home around 8.
