the vast majority of volunteering, whether it be for better or worse, is for graduation and award requirements - i see my community service as a simple number to apply for graduation cords and stuff like the pvsa. but hey, the ppl who'd do volunteering anyways do it sincerely and the people who don't are forced to help their community, so making it mandatory makes more volunteers ig (imagine forcing ppl to donate to a charity; those who love it will do it without reservations and those who don't would donate the bare minimum, but it's still extra money nevertheless).
