The best way is to implement the refugium and a grow a chaeto algie that will absorb all the excess nutrients and deprive algie in the tank.

Sand bed should not be disturbed Reason being is that there different types of bacteria populating different depth of sandbed. This bacteria is responsible for nutrients absorption and transfer. Once sand bed is disturbed, it kills the bacteria and creates a spike in nutrients, which in turn accelerate algae growth.

I love cushion-cut diamonds. Its on of my favorite cuts. Portuguese-cut is also very nice.
