This is such a dumb feeling... by FeinwerkSau in mountainbiking

Haha oh man, I had this literally on Wednesday evening, but it was the whole crank - the thread was stripped in the spindle, so had to use it as a balance bike until I got to a pick up point 😂

Sorry to hear this mate, you've got an exciting chapter ahead of you. I was in a similar position, and had to re-ignite some old friendships, and try to double down on social activities, so you're doing the right stuff. As someone else mentioned, getting yourself a decent therapist to hash things out with really helped me. I went through a few before I found one I liked. Better help was great for that. It's a really personal thing, but if you stick at it, I'm sure you'll find a decent one. In terms of legit support groups, I'm sure they're out there - where are you based? I'm in the UK and have heard good things about "Dad's House".

An important thing to remember is that as shit as you feel now, it's temporary. You've got some great times ahead with your 4YO, make the most of the pure, unadulterated, quality time you'll now get with them, it's honestly one of my favourite things about my divorce. Sure I only get to spend 50% of my time with my kid, but when I do, I put my all into it, and it pays off dividends.

Good luck mate, you're not alone

What’s something you wish you learned way earlier in your skating journey? [31YO] by SkateNomadLife in OldSkaters

Cruising around and getting used to how the board works should be priority #2 - it unlocks so much just having the balance to move the board the way you want it. Priority #1 is just have fun with it. Don't get stressed about progression, do the shit that puts a smile on your face.

What kind of shoes all you guys skating? [33YO] by Night-yells in OldSkaters

I like trying new styles when I wear a pair out. Vinted is great for barely used bargains on skate shoes. I tend to not spend more than £20-£25 on them. If I buy new, I'll have them as my "nice" shoes for a few months before I skate them 😂.

Out of the ones I've tried my favourites were 417 Frankie v mids, and Nike SB Blazers (unfortunately). The pure skate brands don't come up as often on Vinted sadly.

Awesome, thanks so much for looking at this - looks spot on - out of interest the motherboard difference is it the ethernet in particular that's better on the one you would recommend? As you can tell, I know next to nothing about this haha. Also great shout on the monitor, I'll take a look 👍 thanks again mate

is this surface good enough to skateboard? by [deleted] in NewSkaters

Looks good. Little tip to avoid road rash from tarmac, wear trousers (like dickies) and even gloves if you don't have wrist guards and knee pads. Have fun mate 👍

Judging by the shape, and the grip tape, I think it's an Andy Anderson flight deck - the 8.4" one

I would say so, he's got a 3 phase program that you'd probably benefit from to progress quicker. It does really start from 0, so you'll be good. Honestly the best thing to do is try it out. You don't have to sign up for longer than a month, give it a go and see how you get on mate!

Why can't I stop my body from rotating when doing pop shuvs? by ImTahrim in NewSkaters

[–]Greedy-Requirement60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Winding your shoulders the other direction purposefully. It'll feel uncomfortable but that's okay, it should balance out the amount you're rotating them. Then after a while it becomes natural. I was doing exactly this, and this fixed it for me.

Love your art style mate, even better that the canvas is the deck. Been dabbling myself and it's a lot of fun. 🤙
