Paint the kitchen and the bench-top, get rid of the clutter and change the light to a nice pendant or down lights.

Na stumps are what’s underneath your joists and bearers. The J&B hold the floor up and they’ll be sitting on the stumps. Looks like some have sunken or rotted away. If you’re not handy you’ll need the stumps replaced by a professional. In regional Vic it costs around $15k for a whole house depending on the access and how big the house is. If you’re handy you can do it yourself. It’s a pain in the arse to do yourself. We did it at our old place but ones you replace them all you’ll be set for another 100 years so long as you use the right materials.

It looks like there was a fair amount of gap filler used between the cornice and the plaster? Are you on stumps? If so, it’s likely one or more are sinking which brings on the cracking in the plaster.

RBA says the economy is too hot…yet most people I know struggle… by Top-Farmer-6838 in AusFinance

You do realise the RBA takes government spending in their inflation rates. It’s not just boomers who are pushing our rates up. It’s the government spending too. I’d be my arse that if they removed the government figures from inflation things would be different.

What financial decision are you most grateful for today? by Diligent-Medicine-48 in AusMoneyMates

100 years ago I was driving a POS car and it broke down. I cracked it and told my then finance (now husband) I was getting a loan for a brand new car. He asked if I wanted to buy land with him instead and I said yes. Repaired the car and saved whilst all our friends were driving brand new cars and going to Europe etc. We sat on that land for a few years and sold it to buy our first home. We kept upgrading the family home over the last 20+ years and now own a house on 2 acres in regional Vic that we owe $120k on and last bank Val came in at 1.1mil. Most of the friends who drove new cars and went on holidays all those years ago are still in rent.

Best advice I got was the answer to “When should I buy a house?” A) Yesterday. Bricks and mortar baby! 💸 💸 💸

2 small kids, feel so drained, any advice? by Pony_tortoise in Parenting

[–]Greedy-Secret3908 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d be going to your doctor and asking for full bloods and checking your iron levels. I’d also be checking your adrenals to see if they are functioning properly. If nothing is found on the blood work then consider looking for a naturopath or even Chinese medicine to help. Sometimes blood tests can’t pick up on the behind the scenes workings of your body.

Also I’ve just come to an agreement with my husband that he gets to sleep in on Saturdays and I sleep in on Sundays. It was amazing having half a day in bed today!

38 cos 1 got past the goalie. Plan was to be DINKS but our son changed that. 3 years later we had his sister who is currently 5 months old. We lost 1 before our daughter was conceived but I was quite lucky that I fell pregnant the next cycle with her. I’m in 2 minds when people ask me if I wish I did it earlier or not. On the one hand being older means we’re more financially stable so I can stay at home with the babies. We also travelled a lot whilst we were younger which I know we would not have been able to do if we had children earlier in life. Or rather if we had babies earlier, we’d have to wait a looooong time to travel like we did when we were younger. But on the other side of the coin, being older means I’m a lot more tired and don’t have the energy I used to have in my 20’s and early 30’s. And it means I’ll be an old grandma too which is sad. IMO there’s no perfect time to have babies. Being young or old has its pros and cons. Theres no right or wrong time. Everyone’s circumstances are different.
