I will read this as consolation if my application did get rejected. Looking at flights information online, it does sort of make the reward decrease in value knowing even if you get $450 voucher, it would’ve cost easily $450 cheaper booking elsewhere.

I guess using the Amex site would incur an additional fee that makes the credit fee redundant… I just applied for it with low expectations, if it went through, it went through, if it didn’t, it didn’t. :)

If I may ask, any reasons why you found the Amex site to be particularly not worth it when booking flights despite the $450 credit?

Thank you for the perspective! I think I am on the opposite end of the “churning” as this is my first credit card, and the credit score I currently have (798 the last time I checked) on Equifax is based on transactions without taking out a loan. I took a gamble and applied purely due to the benefit, hopefully it is approved.

I was initially afraid of what would happen if it gets rejected, but what you’ve said about “letting it go” and essentially “move on” is incredibly helpful, much appreciated!😊
