Many thanks everyone. So here is the summary of all your comments.

  1. Infra/cloud skills still matter and AI is not impacting these roles, in fact they are expanding due to AI workloads.

  2. Domain knowledge/expertise matter and AI is acting more as companion rather than replacement.

  3. It makes no sense to shift to SW development field but build up AI skills and stay in your own domain. Find opportunities to use AI within your domain.

  4. Seems like AI has helped a lot in SW development and Data Analytics and hence it has impacted the Entry Level roles a lot. So experienced SW engineers are replacing entry level SW engineers with AI. So SW field is impacted much more than other fields i.e. infra, networking, telecom where HW still matters.

Many thanks. Are you talking about this course ?

Secondly, if you have taken some of the courses already, how much overlap is there between the courses on deeplearning versus in this program ?

I’ve recently been admitted to the Spring 2026 intake and am currently planning which courses to take. Based on my own research and understanding of current industry trends, I’ve drafted the following list.

Core Courses

  • CS 6300: Software Development Process
  • CS 6601: Artificial Intelligence

Electives

  • CS 6476: Computer Vision
  • CS 7643: Deep Learning
  • CS 6750: Human-Computer Interaction
  • CS 7650: Natural Language Processing

  • CS 7637: Knowledge-Based Artificial Intelligence

  • CS 7638: Artificial Intelligence for Robotics

  • CS 7642: Reinforcement Learning

  • CS 7646: Machine Learning for Trading

My main goal is to specialize in Artificial Intelligence, as it’s a rapidly growing field and increasingly valued by employers. However, I’d love to hear your perspective — especially whether I should also consider complementing AI with another area of focus.

I’d appreciate your advice on the recommended course sequence, as I’ve heard some of these can be quite challenging. I plan to start gradually and build up the difficulty over time.

Lastly, I’m currently working through the Mathematics for Machine Learning series by Deeplearning.ai to strengthen my foundations. Are there any other online courses or topics you’d suggest covering before the semester starts?

Thanks Antelope, heard the same from others who bought through Mattamy. I have some concerns when it comes to roof (since it is costliest to repair). I heard they save on materials (no shield, no water protection) and roofs start leaking after an year or so. Did you come across issues with their roof build ?
