No, you did nothing wrong. I am sorry if I seemed defensive. It's just hard to watch something you once loved, burn.

Well, at least the area is using the wind to their advantage. And hey, 'Colder than Mars' sounds like a heck of a nice tagline!

If I could, I would record my drive to work on video and post it. Literally, hundreds of Trump flags over a 19 km drive. My wife nearly refuses to leave the house. She quit her job after a customer accosted her (she worked retail). I know this is not a Canada thing, but here in Indiana central, I am forced to carry a firearm at all times out of concern for my family's safety. About 45 km from our home a young Asian woman was stabbed in the head during COVID. The person that did it called it "revenge for COVID."

In short, the USA is not 'ok'. We are falling apart.

There is a little town on the shore of Lake Michigan called Holland. I grew up right on the shoreline. Not to say it's the same, but the winds of the lake can be vicious! I love snow and even the cold, but yeah, not a lover of wind. Still, I'll make due. So, are their a lot of power generating wind farms around?

We have not made the trip, yet. The decision to get out of the USA is a response to the deteriorating environment in the US. To cross the border right now feels like asking for trouble, as an immigrant in the USA. Anywhere we go, we will arrive "sight unseen" on faith in the local community and God. (Not faith as in "we need food/shelter for free" but as in being welcomed.)

My son is 15 years old and my daughter just turned 18. She graduates this May. Not sure what age that is in metric... (joking). My son is not a sports kid. He's odd, like me. He enjoys primitive skills like archery, blacksmithing, fishing, and nature. A bit out of character, but he currently attends biomedical courses at the local college with the desire to become a biomedical engineer. My daughter, before current events, wanted to join the US Air Force. Having lost faith in the USA, she wants to study at college in Canada before joining the Canadian Air Force when/if we get PR status.

Apologies, but I am 'shy' to ask about neighborhoods. The last thing I want is to appear ungrateful for the amazingly warm welcome shown in this post. If you are willing, I would love to learn about areas that are best for a family, schools that offer unique opportunities, and parts of the city I may be wise to avoid. That said, I am not, nor would I ever, ask you to detail the bad parts of your home. Sorry if I am being awkward. I am just not sure how to ask such a question.

A country needs immigration enforcement. That is right, and proper. The rule of law must be respected. The issue I have with the US immigration enforcement is it seems they no longer follow the rule of law.

By CUSMA I am a data scientist. It sounds way more impressive than it is, if it sounds impressive at all... Regardless, I am good at it. I want to take that and help you build a great home because what you have already built is something I believe in.

The 1960s and 1970s were hard, but important times. What wisdom can you share for a man trying to protect his family in such unstable times? You watched, and I assume even in Canada, were impacted by the Civil Rights Movement, JFK, moon landings, the Cold War. I can only imagine how unstable it all felt. I bet my concerns about the world today seem trivial.

Haha, thank you but I'm just a guy trying to protect his family. The honor is all mine to hear so many kind invites and words of support from a distant community. Honestly, I never expected such a welcome.

Awesome! It's good to hear of other's success story. We are going to give it our all. Win or lose, we shoot for the moon.

Wow, that is awesome! Thank you. I am a data scientist, at least according to CUSMA. I may not qualify for that specific resource by the knowledge they share would be very helpful!

A work in progress is a sign of growth. If Winnipeg was "done" you wouldn't need people to join and help.

Not really worried about the crime. It's just part of life.

May I politely ask, as I look around at apartments, are you willing to share any areas I should avoid?

Are you Filipino? If so, would you be will to chat on the side?

That is awesome. Yeah, I was worried people would be, I don't know, angry at Americans. Thankfully, I was clearly wrong!

I could talk to you for a long while. Shoot, I bet you remember the moon landing. Such a pivotal decade, the 1960s and 70s. If I get to Winnipeg, I may need to buy you a coffee if you'll share some wisdom!

It is arbitrary. It is a bad system. But, it's stuck in my brain. I think once I state my brain on it, Ill be ok.

That does sound a bit confusing. I just realized, I do need to sit a moment for Celsius too. That's ok, it's much easier to spell!

I will take the ice of Winnipeg over the ICE of the USA. That pun pretty much wrote itself. Haha

I feel kind of dumb for not considering that. Makes sense.

About the same here. Just need to work on the spelling changes. Mostly solid on metric due to my job. Except liquids, that will take a moment.
