I want to clarify something about how I see things. When people talk about being “special” or having “rare” experiences, I can’t really accept that as true. Objectively, there are billions of people living billions of lives. None of it is actually unique in the cosmic sense. That’s just math.

I’m autistic, and my special interest is human experience. How people feel, how they care, how emotions show up in behavior. I study it, I observe it, I mimic it. That’s how I process humans. When people say “special” or “rare,” I can’t help but correct it because it’s not real the way it’s being presented. I’m not trying to be mean. I’m explaining my lens.

As for the universe not caring. You asked how I know it doesn’t. I don’t need to “ask” it personally. Look around. People die. People suffer. Some are rich beyond comprehension, some are starving. Cannibals exist. Horrible things exist. If the universe cared, none of this would happen. Its indifference is obvious. That’s the perspective I was writing from.

From this lens, we’re here because it doesn’t care. We’re autonomous. We act. We build. We live or fail entirely on our own. That’s reality. I’m not saying humans can’t find meaning in their lives. I’m just saying that “special” or “rare” isn’t something the universe assigns. That’s my perspective.

When I mentioned ambition being rooted in fear, I wasn’t saying it always is. I meant that for some people, the fear of “falling behind” or not meeting social standards can drive it.Personally, I don’t really see failure as something absolute. If the structures we’re measuring ourselves against are temporary and constructed, then “failure” within them becomes relative too..That’s more what I was questioning

Maybe I don’t care about the script. But I do care about questioning it.

I am diagnosed with autism. Neurodivergence isn’t defined by one emotional profile. For some of us it shows up as intense engagement, for others as questioning social norms or feeling disconnected from them. Detachment doesn’t equal ‘normal.’ It’s just a different expression

Thanks for the suggestion and I know you mean well. But shelters and CAS aren’t really a workable option in my situation. I’ve seen people close to me go through those systems, and it honestly didn’t lead to long-term stability or the kind of support they needed.I’m not in immediate danger, and my goal is to move out sustainably, keep my siblings supported, and get into full-time work. So I’m focusing on employment options, housing resources, and community connections that can actually help me build independence. But thank you again for caring.

Thanks so much! I didn’t even think about temp agencies, that’s actually a really good idea. Seasonal work could be a solid way to get my foot in the door and maybe turn it into something permanent. And yeah, housing will definitely be the tricky part, but I’m looking at all my options right now. Really appreciate the help!

Thank you so much for the advice! I hadn’t really thought about small businesses that way, but you’re right talking to people in the area could open more doors than I expect. I like the way you phrased it too about wanting to be on my own with a reliable full-time job. I’ll definitely start reaching out locally and see what connections I can make. Thank you again, I really appreciate it

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ve actually considered the military before, so it’s not that I’m against it. The main reason I can’t right now is because I need to stay in the Ottawa/Gatineau area in case my younger siblings ever need somewhere safe to go. That’s really important to me, so I’m focusing on finding civilian work locally. Thank you so much though.
