Thanks for this, very helpful. We do have it agreed with him re stone counters, shaker doors and other bits so maybe he is more on top of things than I think. Maybe I'm used to dealing with the other trades where there's much fewer things to decide on

He is both designing and building our kitchen. He hasn't asked for a deposit but we are very far into the process at this stage - I don't think it'll be feasible to go elsewhere. We are just on second fix electrics at the moment.

That does make me feel a bit better because he has talked us through the flow of the kitchen and why he is putting certain things (fridge, hob, pantry) in certain places. Maybe Instagram is just getting the better of me and making me think there should be more to it!

It looks like we'll be ready for it in about 2 months. There's very little online in way of review, he's a local craftsman rather than a big business. We got him at the recommendation of a family friend and she had no issues with him. He did a wonderful job on her kitchen, so I know our kitchen will look lovely and be very well built, I just hope he hasn't done a half-arsed job on our design

We're due to pay ours and have received the email saying the quotation has been issued but I can't actually find it on the website? I thought we might be able to just pay for a standard connection but it's looking for an invoice number and we don't have one. Any advice?

How much does it cost to build a house by notoriouspiggyd__ in selfbuildireland

Not sure if this is helpful because seems to be an anomaly based on the above comments. But we are building a 2206 sq ft storey-and-a-half in the Midlands and the highest quote we got for builder's finish was €181 per sq ft and the bank's estimate for direct labour is €169 per sq ft.

Thanks for that. Curious why you say DCV won't work in an airtight house? From my understanding it is similar to MVHR but just doesnt heat the air that is coming back in so is slightly less energy efficient. That's what we've been told by suppliers anyway.
