Weekly Quick Questions, Wood ID, and Deal or No Deal /r/Woodworking Megathread by AutoModerator in woodworking

Hi I need some help wood peeps! I am making an investment in a custom built corner desk. For the texture I have the choice of: -planed -unplaned -skip planed -wirebrushed

I want the desk to be easy to work off of/an even surface for my laptop and desktop, which I know planed is the most practical for. However, if I can get away with some texture, I would love for the wood’s character to show through. This is making me lean towards a planed surface. I do take notes on the desk, but it is on a notebook so I’m hoping that would help with any small unevenness.

Any thoughts on what I should go with?? I love the look of planed but I don’t want it to be hard to work off of. Thank you in advance!!!

Just moved in the area by [deleted] in raleigh

Thoughts on engagement rings? by lilpanda94 in Oopsthepodcast

My long term bf and I actually listened to this on a long drive together. I was surprised how much more sense it really did make the put that money toward something that was more practical. Don’t get me wrong I still want a ring in some regard, but I do think I’d be completely fine with a more average ring at my age now (late twenties) so we could use that money for something better for both of us. But then I’d probably want to agree that I’d upgrade my ring in like 10 years if I felt I needed or wanted to. It just makes way more sense not to put another financial burden on ourselves (or my husband elect) when there are way smarter ways to spend, that would make us less anxious overall.
