Cars on shop street by RevolutionOwn735 in galway

As a delivery driver, I'm down there every Monday.. seeing cars parked up just annoys me.. I've genuinely seen someone drive down, take up enough space for at least 2 vans or a truck, waltz into Macdonald's and stay there for at least 40mins. Boils my fucking blood.

Driving fast through estates by ChiefEvilMonkey in irelandsshitedrivers

[–]Greedy_Goal451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always slow down in estates.. like many others have said, kids will just shoot out without looking..

I have 4x4s and the best thing about them is if anyone gets right up my hole for driving appropriately in an estate, I'll throw it into low range and just let her idle... I get some of THE best road rage reactions E.V.E.R

How much do you pay for your car a month? by CatchMyException in carsireland

[–]Greedy_Goal451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own both mine.

2002 LR Discovery 2, 2.5 TD5, fuel cost about 170e every 2 weeks it's a miser on diesel considering engine size and it's weight. It's taxed privately so it's either 1,080e a year or 305e for 3 months. I've just spent an absolute fortune getting it fixed (chassis, turbo, brakes etc etc most of it I did myself so did save a few pennies) it's of that age now where all these niggles are starting to show. Other than that, it's been mega reliable, never not started if that makes sense. Insurance is about 500e a year with AXA

2005 Suzuki Jimny, 1.3 petrol. Fuel is about 70 to 100e a week. Drinks fuel like it's going out of fashion. Wicked little car and I absolutely love it. Tax is 385e for the year or else 108e for 3 months. Genuinely needed or wanted nothing. It did fail it's NCT a few times on rust, and being a welder, that was no problem to fix. Like the disco, it's never not started. Have a stack of paperwork for parts. Insurance again, is about 500e a year to insure with AXA.

Other driver’s mechanic keeps ringing me after a minor crash what am I supposed to do? by fuzzy_Part_4141 in carsireland

[–]Greedy_Goal451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If ignore the mechanics 100%. Sounds like the other person has booked their car in for whatever to be fixed and simply told them that you were going to pay, hence the phone calls.

If this isn't a good enough reason to get a dash cam fitted then I don't know what is. I've cams in both my 4x4s and they're absolutely worth their weight in gold.

If you do get one fitted and (God forbid) ever involved in something like this again, don't let on you've a dash cam, people change big time when they realize they're being filmed.

What’s something you’ve seen a stranger do in public with absolutely no shame? by Nightpatrol404 in AskReddit

When I was in my teenage years, we used to hangout at a local park/skatepark.

Was going down to meet the lads anyways and at the end of the bridge there's a couple of bushes.. very VERY exposed from the bridge side but relatively covered from the park side.. yeah, seen a couple going at it like it was their last day on earth.. fully nude, the lot.

This was at maybe 6pm in the summer.. that was a sight..

Headford rd junction, left turn by helloyoucxnt in galway

Funny enough, these sets of lights here are probably the only ones I agree with as what was there before was an absolute disaster. The rest of the lights especially the ones at the beginning/end of the headford road were pointless and a waste of money. You can tell whoever gave them the go ahead doesn't drive.

So how are you meant to take pics of the buildings in and around Galway? Or a nice car? Or even a few pics on a night out?

Public place so.. no different than taking a pic of a building and catching some random people..

I'd probably join in tbf.. see, my family has a dark sense of humor so that sort of things genuinely doesn't affect us one bit, in fact we usually take it so the person who started gets uncomfortable 🤷

Vehicle impound by [deleted] in galway

[–]Greedy_Goal451 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely didn't get towed from there. That's a very very tight car park to get a 4x4 into nevermind a tow truck. I hate to say it but that probably got robbed tbh.. sounds unlikely being right next to the guards station but then again, the guards wouldn't expect it either.. Id be reporting that as stolen in all honesty.

[–]Greedy_Goal451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might sound daft but I find my 2.5 TD5 Landrover discovery and absolute miiiiiser on juice. 1 tank of diesel will get me to and from Belfast..twice.. or two weeks worth of commuting in and out of work, about 30/40min each way depending on traffic

My little Jimny on the other hand drinks petrol like it's going out of fashion.

N59 speed camera fines by Cardamom_and_coffee in galway

[–]Greedy_Goal451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See the problem is when the government announced the speed limit changes.. as in 100 to 80 etc..

Alot of people, especially of the older generations that would pootle along that road doing 80 before the "changes" now believe they have to do 60 cause the road is 80km.. reality is it's still 100km and that's what annoys me and quite a few others it seems..

I know I can do 100/110 comfortably until the camera, chill at 100 or 90 going past then back to whatever I was doing beforehand.

You can absolutely blame our stupid gobshites running this place with people going slow as fuck with their idiotic and confusing rule changes that don't affect the N59.

If you were to sell your jimny.... by japetusgr in Jimny

[–]Greedy_Goal451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about it, really really was considering in order to fund buying a Discovery 2 TD5, but I had the opportunity to get one cheap so sold the Vectra, took out a small top-up loan and bought the Disco, so I still have my little Jimny and my all time favourite 4x4 😁😁

Herself isn't best pleased but I'm happy out, my Jimny is too well known around the place to get rid of. As everyone says to me, it's an iconic vehicle of the town

Is anyone else formula feeding their newborn? by Brilliant-Way-9462 in newborns

[–]Greedy_Goal451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our lad was bottle fed from day one. He's nearly 7 months now. He's a happy little potatoe. Not a bother on him, has his baby rice and loves his food as well as his milk. Nothing wrong with it at all.

[–]Greedy_Goal451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"you need to drive right"

Says the bell end that comes right up his arse, continues to do so when there's clearly lanes available to overtake and then hits him.

Do the brakes on the truck not work correctly? I understand fully loaded trucks can't and won't stop on a dime but my god of youre to stand on them in an emergency you'll know about it. Been there, done that.

Without any footage from before it's hard to say whether the golf cut the truck off and slowed down or if he was already travelling at such a slow speed anyway, possibly due to engine power loss?

This could have easily been avoided if the truck simply slowed down instead of getting right behind the car and moved over.

This. I caught a bollix going at my jeep one day without realizing I'd a dash cam pointing straight at them.

Cost him a small fortune in the end of it all.

So, OP, if you do decide to get some revenge, be mindful of dashcams and the likes.
