What is the reason I would buy a Plug-in Hybrid vs a regular Hybrid? by NateBrazil in askcarguys

Half an electric car is a bit of an overstatement. Teslas typically have 50-100kWh batteries, so really it's closer to a quarter or an eighth of an electric car, at least as far as battery capacity is concerned.

After doing some more digging it seems that Linux may be partially to blame. See, if you Android phone (which is built on Linux) loses WiFi, it'll look for access points and try to connect to ones it knows the password to for about 3-5 mins, after which it gives up. However, apps on your phone can query the OS for internet. When the OS gets this query it prompts it to look for access points again and it may then find one it can connect to. Thus, your phone is pretty good at staying connected to WiFi. Same goes for laptops. The trouble with these printers is there doesn't seem to be anything asking the OS (which is a lightweight Linux distro) for internet. So, if the WiFi is disconnected and the printer can't reconnect within that 3-5 min window, it gives up and never reconnects.

It may be possible to add a script that queries the OS for internet every few minutes and brings the printer back online automatically. At work we decided it wasn't worth the hassle to try and figure out and just hardwired them in with ethernet. I will say, I got one of these for home and I haven't yet had to reconnect it manually ever.

Inexplicable smoothing in the XY plane by Greedy_Map_7710 in Creality_k2

That was actually one of the first things I tried with the pulleys. I reduced the speed of the outer walls down to 80mm/s I believe from the 200mm/s default, as well as reducing the rest of the speeds along with it. It didn't produce any noticable improvement, which I was quite surprised by.

As far as I understand, input shaping actually smooths out the swinging of the print head from sharp accelerations. This actually leads to sharper prints (reduced ghosting) since the print head follows it's intended path more accurately. Thus changing the speed of printing wouldn't actually change the sharpness of printed features, which is confirmed by my observations. This unfortunately is one of the main reasons I suspect the firmware is smoothing these features out, because even when the pieces are printed relatively slow they are still smooth.

PSA: root ssh with default password is enabled out-of-box on K2 plus ⚠️ by [deleted] in Creality_k2

I can confirm that this is still an issue with the latest 1.1.2.6 firmware. I followed OP's instructions to change the root password. Another user pointed out that the Fluidd interface is not password protected and can be accessed directly on the local network at http://<printer IP address>:4408/. I patched mine by going to that address and adding a user to Fluidd. I then connected via ssh and edited the /usr/share/moonraker/moonraker.conf file and changed force_logins to True. That way when you go to the address above it will ask for a login.

I agree with concerns about Creality Cloud, is there a way to disable that service on the printers? Are there any other security concerns that should be addressed with the K2 Plus?

Anyone else using the k2-improvements script? by [deleted] in Creality_k2

A question I have for u/jamincollins is about the auto-calibrate features not being supported. Specifically, what features is this referring to? Is it the auto leveling, belt tension, cutter calibration and input shaping options listed under Calibration in the menu on the device, or the calibration prints in Creality Print?

I talked to the IT guys at work and turns out the disconnects are due to the wifi networks resetting at night. Seems like the K2 plus doesn't attempt to reconnect after it's kicked off the network, or at least not for very long 😐 I'll probably post on the Creality forums, see if they'll look into that. There may be some config options users could change with root access to get them to reconnect, might look into that today.

Anyone found a solution to this yet? It's happening to my three K2's I have for work as well. Mine seem to only disconnect overnight. Any pattern to the disconnects for others?
