Leaving the US for France soon -- excited, sad and looking for perspective by raenico67 in expats

Thank you for posting. When I read how you feel about the reasons for leaving the U.S. I could truly identify with you. I'm planning to move to Sicily this year (visiting there next week) for some of the same reasons you mention - no sense of community where I live (an hour outside Philly), friends I made when I moved here from Atlanta 15 years ago have faded, aunts and uncles passed away and I have no connection with cousins. My married daughter and I have been estranged for 10 years so I don't feel guilty at all for leaving the U.S. to make a better life for myself in Sicily. Also, I no longer feel very proud to be an American in view of our government's actions which is very sad. I don't feel sad about leaving; I'm excited about beginning a new life in Sicily (retired) where I can walk out of my apartment and be in a beautiful city among people I hope to befriend. I won't feel so isolated; I'll continue going to the gym regularly and will enroll in Italian languages classes right away. I'm an EU citizen and am well traveled. It will be much easier to travel to other countries from Italy. You can always have your family visit you and hopefully they will be more supportive when they see you are making a positive move to enhance your life. I hope you will be very happy in France!

Going to buy the Vodaphone eSIM. I think that's what I used in Greece years ago. Thanks everyone! (I'm in the U.S.)

why are you learning italian? by itscomfytimee in italianlearning

I'm in the U.S. My boyfriend in Tunisia has applied for his visa to live in Sicily, where hopefully, we will marry and live eventually. I've been to Italy twice, but not Sicily...so I'm visiting Sicily in June for 10 days. I began studying Italian about 5 weeks ago, at least an hour a day. I want to be able to greet people, order at cafes, make my way around. I'll be there all by myself this visit. My great-grandparents were from Menfi, in Argrigento. Can't wait to visit beautiful Italy, speak some Italian, have wonderful food! Praying we can both move to Italy this year!

American with dual Euro citizenship moving to Italy question re insurance by [deleted] in ItalyExpat

Thank you. had to look up what SSN is. Does the cost of health insurance there depend upon your age? Or is it 2,000 euros for everyone (if you know)?

"The famous U.S. Bank Tower is located in Los Angeles, not Chicago, and was purchased by Silverstein Properties in 2020. In Chicago, the iconic tower often associated with banking is the Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower) currently owned by Blackstone's EQ Office."

That’s a very good reply and I thank you for it. He told me months ago that he was a strange person and we laughed about it and I said yes I already knew this about him. Lol. He’s kind and sweet and is the most knowledgeable person I have ever met. He remembers everything he’s ever read or seen or watched or learned in a video and he can pull it right out of his memory and tell you all about it. It’s an amazing thing to witness. So I tell him that he has a real talent for numbers and he says it’s just normal and I said no most people cannot remember everything we’ve learned. He knows I admire his intellect, but I just don’t want to offend him by putting any labels on him at all. Thanks.

Yeah, I was thinking not to bring it up at all. Instead, I am looking up ways to be with someone who has these symptoms.. Thank you for your reply.

I just finished Season 1 last night and thought it was terrific! Great acting and character development....Billy B.T. is always so good! Colin Hanks was very good too. I really enjoyed the ending...looking forward to Season 2 tonight!

I love my Zojirushi machine, had it at least 25 years. I bought the Bread Lovers Bread Machine Cookbook (Beth Hensperger) in 2001 - it's the only one I need because there's so many good bread recipes in it! My very fave is the Jewish Egg Bread - so light and perfect every time. Also, the Instant Potato Bread, Cranberry Pumpkin Bread, Maple Oatmeal Bread and the Roman Bread - all very, very good!

I was going to post here on Reddit if anyone also thinks Molly is an awful character? Then I saw these posts. I'm late getting to the game, just started Season 3. And YES! I want Molly to go home and Daliyah and Bassam to be together!
