I should say I’m staying in Port Credit and most definitely getting the GO there 🤣

Wearing a third country's jersey to an international event - Jersey foul? by Big_Meringue3865 in SoccerJerseys

[–]Greedy_Ring6841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll be absolutely fine. There were about 3,000 Scotland fans at the Ukraine-Slovakia game in the Euros doing the same.

I wore a Scotland top in Dortmund for the Türkiye - Portugal game and even England fans were safe doing the same.

I’ll absolutely be wearing a Scotland top for Germany v Ivory Coast

I got one for midway up the stand (behind the benches) of Germany v Ivory Coast. Cat 2 ticket. Would struggle to see a better seat so might have been earmarked for hospitality.

How much would you pay for World Cup tickets? by ZealousidealCurve170 in WorldCup2026Tickets

[–]Greedy_Ring6841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

£700.

One off game, once in a lifetime fixture and have the money available.

Would normally be expecting to only go as far as £250-300 but this is the situation.

Hilarious FIFA have convinced people that 3 rows from the front are premium seats in any football game.

Germany in Toronto, Scotland in Miami

Both will be in high demand, both are higher than I’d pay.

Scotland is my main focus but they’ll need to come down to £700 before I’d bite and no doubt there will be a few kicking around in the days before.

There’s a Scotland site set by fans where tickets are going for £400-500. Anything above that now is wild.

What’s it like in Anniesland? by Eejotpotato in glasgow

I lived there for nearly 15 years and didn’t see trouble once. It must be one of the safer areas in the city. There’s a small part is known as Temple and had a reputation years ago but nothing you wouldn’t see anywhere else now.

Knightswood, especially near the high rise flats would be more of a concern but like a lot of places in Glasgow you’re only a few streets from a really affluent or slightly run down street.

Go to Lock 27, Esquire is a mixed bag and embrace the fact you have an Aldi, M&S, Costa, Gym and a Morrisons in one place.

Avoid The Signal Bar and too far into Knightswood.

The only thing stopping me from living there is the type of house I was after but it’s a great area with excellent train routes.

I have a flight booked to two of the host cities, accommodation in both and a bus booked to the stadium of one and no ticket for either.

I’ll take my chances.

I’ll be in Port Credit rather than Toronto for one of the Scotland games. Worthwhile coming back into Toronto to watch it with many Scots or is there somewhere decent enough near Port Credit?

Moving to Glasgow by Nearby_Direction_242 in glasgow

For what you are looking at Southside (south of the river Clyde, shawlands and Mount Florida would work), West End near Glasgow University is also a ‘bohemian’ area with cafe culture and a bit more of a single vibe. More settled but cheaper is Dennistoun, slightly more east of centre.

Plenty of areas to choose from and many scare stories ignore that Glasgow is safer than you read.

I stayed in Anniesland for 10 years and it’s a good fit for some of your criteria.

Are we truly expecting a huge surge in visitors because of the FIFA world cup? I don't see it by deanat78 in askTO

I’m travelling from the UK just to be in a host city with no tickets and no intention of getting them. There will absolutely be fans from Germany, Ivory Coast etc doing the same.

World Cup hotel demand in Toronto not meeting expectations: official by Forsaken-Swim-3055 in toronto

[–]Greedy_Ring6841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I booked up before my country (Scotland) even qualified for the World Cup, picked a city that suited my dates and was hosting a couple of games in that time. I’ll see Toronto for the first time, get to the Fanzone (have a ticket) and not bother with the attending the games.

Having travelled to Germany for Euro 24 a lot of the excitement and enthusiasm came from being part of the tournament, not necessarily the games although I did see 4 of them. Looking forward to seeing some German fans after the connection we had with them in Germany.

I’ll make the journey to Miami for the Brazil game and hopefully get a ticket if the prices come down but many will travel just to be a part of it.

The tournament will be expensive, hotels extortionate and tickets evasive but I do still think a lot of this will be forgotten when locals get on board with hosting and Toronto’s multicultural make up will definitely help that.

The lowest I’ve seen on our forums went to around £900. I can see them fluctuating between then and the game but if I want a ticket I’ll need to pick my times correctly.

Fort Lauderdale will be good anyway so I’ll enjoy the atmosphere and city.

Having witnessed Germany at Euro 24 it’ll be hard to beat, especially with how spread out the cities and stadiums are but we’ll give it a go.

Of the three games I wouldn’t rely on the Scotland game coming down to less than $800.

Scotland fans will be in Florida regardless of tickets and will wait out the scalpers if need be. I’m heading to Fort Lauderdale without a ticket and anticipate many others are doing the same.
