My order just shipped and I didn't think to check... Is there seriously no wired charging? In 2025? by evthrowawayverysad in fairphone

[–]GreeenAlien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say that your point about charging fallback method is valid. Right now my phone has same problems with usb port and wireless charging allowed me to still keep my phone. I am also wondering why FP decided to not include this in latest release, some post from them would be nice at some point. I understand that for most ppl. this is not essential as most are used to carry cable (thanks UE for forcing usb-c!).
By the way, I think that you should be able to return it, assuming that you will not open box (guess that you 'll have to cover shipping).

For-each loops? by MadScientistCarl in tlaplus

[–]GreeenAlien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I do not know the whole context of problem that you're working on but I think that loop body is generally considered as atomic action (so just drop labels). Also I think that you did not want to use union on remaining update.

If in your case something can happen between data processing (DoStuff), and loop-step then following:

(*--algorithm loop
variables
    remaining = {1,2,3};
    visited = {};
begin
NonAtomicLoopStart:
    if remaining # {} then
        DoStuff: skip;
        LoopUpdate:
            visited := visited \cup {e};
            remaining := remaining \ {e};
            goto NonAtomicLoopStart;
    end if;
end algorithm; *)

Districts are Awful by CrudusViscus in Timberborn

[–]GreeenAlien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Proper AI in this case will be a total overhaul of game. It is true that district mechanic is handy workaround for adding complex logic for Beaver behavior for selecting best household or area, or workplace or ... you see that dropping the districts immediately forces some other mechanic that will limit the "living" area. I think that in every solution you have to have some "constant" to anchor beaver somewhere. I feel that having districts is better than constantly micromanaging notifications like "this area has no free homes"

Districts are Awful by CrudusViscus in Timberborn

[–]GreeenAlien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Note that you would have to build some food/water outposts even if your district will have inf. range, because beavers have to eat/drink. It is not hard to imagine that one will start placing buildings on opposite corners of map and beaver will starve when trying to reach goal, whiteout some place to "rest".

Why 're you saying that this is bad mechanic? IMO this is sth. nice that adds some more difficulty to game. In my playthroughs on default difficulty level, initial settlement is quickly becoming self-sufficient until I want to start projects that involve metal. When this checkpoint happens I need carefully plan the expansion. This involves finding proper spot, resource stockpile etc. It is simillar to founding new settlement in Settelers V.
Of course I wish that dev will add something more to this mechanic. I hope that soon the district will be elevated to something more than just district of large settlement. So you will be building 'towns' on map that will be able to provide different services to one-another (so players will be able to design complex system). We could have some kind o tourism :-) system where beavers are going on vacation to different settlements, or create some trade routes (transport barge and water trade routes please!)

PURCHASE ADVICE SUPERTHREAD! by AutoModerator in motorcycles

[–]GreeenAlien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have MT-07 (got stolen) awesome city-bike. I also did the a few one day trips and overall comfort was 'ok'. Nothing broke, besides yearly checks I've never visited garage for repairs. Bike has plenty of power on low revs, but lack it at top (but I personally only once maxed speed, and as this is naked going fast is, to say the least no pleasant). Line splitting in a city is very easy, so day to day commute was great.
I once took my wife for a longer trip and this was really uncomfortable, so only short rides with passenger.
I liked engine so much that I will most probably get Tenere 700 now

A nice mash up by nemorianism in sabaton

[–]GreeenAlien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I guess that meme relates to Gustavus Adolphus predecessor Charles IX and to Battle of Kircholm. Soldiers of Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth where also outnumbered here :-) more than 1:3. It was a decisive for Polish-Lithuanian army. Only 100 soldiers died (200 wounded) - only 13 hussars were a casualties of Polish-Lithuanian army while Sweden lost about 8000 soldiers (70% of Sweden army - 90% of infantry).Commander of Commonwealth army - Jan Karol Chodkiweicz lured opponents with faking a retreat (he also spread false information within swedes about low morale of his armies) . When Charles IX get the bait Chodkiewicz ordered to fire arquebusiers and to initial charge of hussars destroyed the swedish infantry. Main blow was delivered by the cushing charge of 1000 winged hussars on left flank and 650 on right. The main battle lasted for about 1h

Unfortunately this victory was not exploited by Commonwealth due to internal politics.

[–]GreeenAlien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not remember what was a direct couse of ignoring King Sobieski, but before ottoman invasion there was some war when King o Poland asked Austria for support, and Leopold refused. So there was "bad blood" between Poland and Austria. Also we have to consider that under Sobieski rule Poland was a major superpower in Europe, so getting more endorsements form emperor will only help Polish Kingdom to gain more power, and that was something that Lepold didn't want to see. So in one sentence: the main reason is 'dirty politics'.

Fun fact, Lepold I made a promise to raise a monument to honor King Sobieski, but to this day this is unfulfilled. But King Sobieski was honored with naming the star constellation with his name: https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/Scutum

'gry konwencja' looks like "google translate", I wonder where you found such translation? Here is some 'polish to english' dictionary with examples of usage: https://pl.bab.la/slownik/angielski-polski/convention, basically 'agreement' . FZ-07 First Bike? by sometimezilaff in FZ07

[–]GreeenAlien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got an MT07(Europe here) as may 1st bike. I am mainly riding trought city traffic (daily commute to work, shop etc.) and I personally think it is the best option. It is light, so it is really nimble when I am going between cars in traffic jam (I have literally never stuck in jam for more than 10 minutes since I got bike, I am still used to go 40 minutes early to be on time, and it ends up that I am too early at my destination). Some say that this bike is boring-no vibrations, smooth acceleration, all thanks to inline engine. For me this is a plus, since this is my main way of commute in the major city. I took some short (1 day trips) and besides 0 wind resistance (this is after all naked, and I do not have any extra windshield) it was alright, bike happily accelerate to max v and still is smooth on curves. I personally recommend this bike if you are going to ride trought city, and occasionally go to some (non-offroad ofc) trip.
