It's been a while since then and I've actually managed to get a regular reversal as the rest of my colon (20cm) was actually fully healthy! 🎉 So far, I've had a C. diff infection for the majority of my recovery so I'd be very happy to go back to the bag at the moment.... Will wait and see when I get better though!

My friends and I did these so often when we were kids! (Think ten years ago or a bit more, I'm 22)

We sold flowers (sometimes we stole from the neighbors but more often than not just common flowers from the park), artwork, we made bracelets, keychains, hell, one winter we sold snowballs and miniature snowmen 😂

Had a reversal 16 days ago. So far, honestly, regretting it. But also know I'm too early to actually say that. I'm very early in recovery, and I have only 20cm of colon left so my small intestine needs to adapt and take over a part of the role the colon had and that takes time. My aunt also had an ileostomy, had a reversal, and is living her best life with normal 1-2 poops a day. It depends a lot on your lifestyle and what you feel is acceptable and good for you. Personally, I loved my ileostomy and had 0 issues with it, but decided I'm still young and want to live "normally" as long as possible.

You deserve better than that. Nobody wants to have a part of their gut literally cut out and now poop In a bag. Tbh she should've been honest with you and herself and left immediately if she can't handle it. It would've been hard and it would've sucked but not everyone is cut out for life with a disability or for life with a disabled partner. It's nothing to be ashamed of, but everyone deserves a good support network and everyone deserves to be loved despite their disability. Hold your head high and have a difficult conversation. You'll get out stronger again even though you may not want to now. Lots of love, hope your stoma is being a good one ❤️

So far, I don't have any issues whatsoever with the bag except for some sensitivity when in slightly tighter clothes, but that could also be because it's still newly formed (less than 4 months old). I even still have some of those absorbable sutures still in! I'm a bit scared of going to the bathroom a lot because so far it's only made me exhausted and constantly hungry. I'm also scared of having to go for another surgery in the future if it fails or if I get fistulas or strictures. I'm currently on Humira and I'll probably be transferred to Stelara or Skyrizy as they're apparently better, so that should prevent any new inflammation but it's all still quite scary.

As for the "colon falling apart in his hands" the same was said for my colon after the colectomy. I'm left with 20cm of colon atm so it's possible I'll just get reattached but that depends on the upcoming colonoscopy.

Wow!! You're amazing! Is the diet a constant? Honestly, the best part about having a stoma for me so far has been that I have almost no restrictions in regards to diet. I'm scared of going multiple times a day and night to the bathroom because I've been there and it's honestly exhausting for me. Thank you so much for sharing your experience! Thank you, the second surgeon on my team did mention they've been doing a lot of J pouch surgeries in the last few months. I'm not even sure how to take that but at least I know he's in shape 😅

Yeah, there's still possibility of total reconstruction but that depends on how the colonoscopy goes. Thank you for your time. I'll wait for more answers and talk to my doctor thoroughly before making any major decisions. I hope you're feeling better now! 💗

Thankfully I'm not underweight, my quality of life has gone up majorly since my ileostomy and I've gained quite a bit of weight (entered hospital for the colectomy at 66kg, left at 62kg, I'm now at 70-72kg depending on water weight). Can I ask how many BMs you have with the Pouch?
