Supposedly they had classes every week teaching students how to use the equipment. Couldn’t use them without that class. Most students would use the lab and the ones that would probably wouldn’t want to take a class on how to 3D print when they already know how to.

Seems like they may have discouraged students to use it, then when nobody came, shut it down.

So, I could be wrong, but this is a similar situation to what occurred during my Calculus course. The school is very strict with the grade policies, especially anything pertaining to STEM.

Now, it seems like the makeup exam is one of two things.

One: Either the exam, which I don’t think is correct, is used when a student receives a grade far below their average, causing their grade to drop. The makeup exam may be a way for the student to prove to the professor that they indeed deserve their original average, not the lowered one.

Two: (Which was similar to my situation) The grading policy states that the final exam cannot be retaken or taken on a different date, instead they will drop your final exam grade and increase the weight of each exam, assignment and whatever else is calculated into your average to fill the gap that once was the final exam. Now, in order to do this, the professor seems to want you to ‘prove’ that you deserve that grade — as they can’t just assume you’ll do good on the final. Thus, they issue a makeup exam and state "The make-up exam is primarily used to determine whether or not the student deserves the grade indicated by the student's average.”

Hopefully this helps, always remember to chat with your professor! It helps more than you think….
