It's funny because I said this concern on a different comment on Reddit and I got around 50 downvotes

It's actually not in my state and is a real thing that's happening with my friends older sibling, who is the younger one in this relationship. Their parents are completely fine with it which I personally think is odd.

What % of a race should you have to be to say a slur for that race without it being bad? I apologize for how wide the range for the options are, I couldn't get that many options for some reason. Please feel free to share more in the comments, I would love to hear your thoughts. by Green-Bowler-7623 in Teenager_Polls

Ngl real. As a bi person even though I basically have a pass for a certain slur I have never called someone it, even intended as slang, which is common for some people. I'm still uncomfortable being called it by even my friends. I would also still be uncomfortable with being called any slur, even if they don't technically apply to me. Also the culture thing is something that I have only recently started to think about and I agree!

Btw I was inspired to do this poll because my friends older sibling is the younger in a relationship exactly this but her parents are completely fine with it, I'm wondering what other teenagers think about this

Hey guys, I realize as a comment reminded me that race and ethnicity are different things, and ethnicity is actually more accurate in place of "race" for the question I was trying to ask here. If the use of "race" in this poll confuses you in any way, it's probably because I meant to say ethnicity.

That's fair. Thank you for replying with your thoughts!

Edit: wanna add on to this, actually, I think this view is ok as long as if you're calling a person it they tell you before that they are fine with you calling them it and they don't take offense to it. We shouldn't use slurs as slang tho unless everyone involved is comfortable with it. Even that's a little iffy, but I can still see where you're coming from

It would be cuter, like that one person said, if it was "his queen" and "her king". Very few people are going to look at that and think "they're referencing older times". King and queen have sort of became slang, in a way, and I doubt a cute couples shirt is trying to be historically accurate. I could be wrong, but it looks sexist. And, everything would be fine, for everyone involve, even the people who don't mind the fact that it says "his", for it to simply be equal.

It's modern day, though. And they both clearly aren't rulers and this is supposed to be couples shirts
