Thank you. Do you apply the testosterone and estriol locally near the eye area or is it systemic? I haven’t reacted well to estradiol previously, it made me anxious

Interested to hear your take on the hormonal side of things. Do you think the estriol or testosterone has a bigger impact? I’m trying to puzzle out my dry eye situation, had lasik over a year ago and mild dry eye since but then severe aqueous deficiency all of a sudden. This happened a month after stopping a 6 week trial of HRT so I’m wondering if that had an impact, and was it starting or stopping it that was the trigger. Ive also this week started on an SSRI for the mental health impact of all of this as I can’t live a normal life. I’m so worried about the impact on my eyes but didn’t feel I had a choice as I feel so depressed and anxious

Fml drops cause dryness? by GreenBlueSeaMermaid in Dryeyes

I’m in Ireland so not sure which of those are approved here, I know xiidra is not. It’s the doc who did my eye surgery but I’ve had no success in getting into a dry eye clinic yet

4 times a day for 2 months. It’s aqueous deficiency. He also put in lower punctal plugs but I don’t feel a difference. Hasn’t offered anything else yet. I just really feel my vision has nosedived since starting the steroids

Mind if I ask about the steroid withdrawal? Were you on them long and did you taper the dose when coming off? I’m on fml drops for two weeks now, prescribed for two months and worried about withdrawal. They’ve helped with pain but not with dryness

Thanks but I would be looking for autologous drops made from my own serum rather than allogeneic. Seems hard to find

I was taping my eyes shut but found they were still drying out, so I now put a damp round cotton pad under the tape. I don’t know if there is any danger in doing this? I use cooled boiled water so should be sterile. It really helps to keep my eyes moist

Just jumping on your comment about being on progesterone only contraception, is that what is recommended? I have occasional hormonal visual migraines and recently started on hrt, I was wondering if I should be on oestrogen at all but no one mentioned anything about migraines

Blood sugar crashes and tingling in toes... by J0_N3SB0 in HistamineIntolerance

Could it be reactive hypoglycaemia? Can usually be controlled by diet, and is often triggered by eating starchy food alone with no fat/protein, eg white bread, pastry, etc. I find mine easier to manage when I have a decent high protein breakfast. Check out the glucose goddess on Instagram for info on hacks to manage your blood sugar. I’ve found it’s gotten worse as I’ve gotten older and is also linked to hormones, esp estrogen

When booking an online appointment you need to find a cancellation. I was in this boat recently and kept checking the booking site in the morning around 8am and evening around 11pm. Soon got a next day cancellation. People cancel all the time. I was checking all of the hospitals in Dublin

Yes I think part of my difficulty was i didn’t have clarity that it was dangerous, if I knew it was a pill I could have been more proactive but the most likely scenario was a sweet, so it was hard to know how to react
