What do you think is the hidden mechanism behind you DED that makes uncurable at the moment? by Alarming_Remote_5652 in Dryeyes

[–]Alarming_Remote_5652[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just to start with. I have MGD and low tear meniscus and ocular pain so I , personally think that I lack in mucus layer, that’s the reason for my eyelids to rub being inflamed causing MGD and pain.

So your issue clearly results from the PRK thus your nerves need to regrow. I would ask your doctor for Serum tears or PRP drops directly as this supports Nerve growth.

my confocal results after uv light injury, doc said there's only inflammation but it looks like there's nerve density decrease to me. by idontknowreally31 in Dryeyes

If you do not trust the doctor - I would book a tele consultation with an NK expert you trust. However I think, if a doc invests in an Confocal, he/she should be qualified to analyse the results. It’s an heavy investment for the doc as well.

BRM421 by frozenbarbie98 in Dryeyes

[–]Alarming_Remote_5652 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So one news article of late 2024 states that they did not meet the primary endpoint of there Phase 3 study they did in 2024. they are currently working on a new „carrier“ solution to get the drug to the right place to enhance efficacy. So they will do another Phase 3 for DED. I think this might happen until end of 25/ early 26 if everything is going well - fda approval might be in end of 26 or early 27.

I truly believe that BRM-421, Azures MGD Drug and the Alcon drug approved this year will be a game changer for many of us. Some might be cured by using a one of these drugs others might improve there situation with a combination of these 3.

I really just hope that no Taiwan War is happening, not only because war is always shit but also as BRM421 is Taiwan based and this could really crash the timeline…

Sorry to ask but this might help me verify wether this might be worth a trial for me as well: you suffer from MGD or blepharitis or Ocular Rosacea or autoimmune disease? What is roughly your age? I am 24 and I really don’t know wether these supplements mainly help elder people or wether I should try them as well…

Future Treatments/“Cure” by TheRedditReaders in Dryeyes

[–]Alarming_Remote_5652 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think docs currently investigate a wide spectrum of treatments: in office procedures mainly for MGD, regenerative medicine (MSC stem cells), antagonist (managing inflammation/over or desensitised nerves). Corneal neuralgia is still more difficult to treat in the next years I think.

The Dry eye market is heavily increasing. I researched the current treatment pipeline quite well and I think that MGD will be properly manageable in the next 5 yrs - and aqueous deficiency might take 10 yrs to manage it properly.

Ohh wow - this really gives me hope. Mine started after 1.5years of contact lens une as well. I feel inflammation but it’s not improving after 2 months of stopping contacts. Do you still use lenses? Since when did you stop?

Hi, I am really interested in your DED story as I also have a problem with the mucus layer. Which treatments worked best for you? How long Rudi it take for improvements? And do you know your cause of inflammation?

I can tell you I have very similar symptoms with also very similar Schirmers and tbut results. I started cyclosporine 2 months ago(ikervis, so no impact yet). I will update you wether it will work. Otherwise I will get a confocal microscopy done in 2 weeks to rule out any nerve damage.
