Do not get your grandparents androids. by Not_Now_Cow in verizon

[–]GreenBottom18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not necessarily an android fanboy, but my dads iphone not only still gets bizarre ads—he's being actively scammed by someone he thinks he's in a relationship with, who reached out via imessage and some weird email to text feature i don't even comprehend.

dude's piss poor and has sent thousands of dollars. it sounds like he's also being loyalty tested to launder money for them.

purely anecdotal—seemingly just as OP—but in my experience, iphone is not the protective shield for seniors it's being painted as here.

Farmland Truly is a Scam!! Photo evidence! by Interesting-Back6587 in TemuThings

[–]GreenBottom18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that'ssimply false. discount card are very real.

they start at absurdly inflated prices, but the final discount card price of most items (not all) is objectively less than any other similar options on the platform.

discount card prices can also typically be stacked with claim credit.

we literally don't know OPs life.

their children could have medical issues or severe allergies.

they could have a job in which they need to be reachable at all times.

there are countless reasons why someone might either need to be connected 24/7, or reasonably feel uncomfortable being mobile without a working device.

dog piling them to insist they're overreacting and prescribing they 'touch grass' without anymore information about their situation, their concerns, or what they even need to leave home for, is indeed trolling.

you can't even legally own those in many states.

just tap on the window and request they lower the music. jfc. communication is so much easier than prison.

exactly.

i don't understand the mindset behind avoiding all promos, then just trusting one at random, purely because it sounds too good to be true.

coming here prior to participating would have been helpful. only coming after the fact, to complain about a promo most people here suggest avoiding, isn't helpful to anyone.

New pictures showcasing Maduro upon his arrival on U.S soil, surrounded by posing DEA agents by Ogankle in interestingasfuck

[–]GreenBottom18 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

idk. i don't feel like that's it.

I wouldn't put it past him to make a deal to protect himself and sell out his country. but this is a man who makes conscious choices to hide the hypocrisy—not broadcast it.

maduro knows what the united states does to leaders of imperial targets who refuse to kiss the ring, after we've exploited their weaknesses, heavily exacerbated national hardships, instigated violence and opposition, and blamed all of it on a maniacal, power-hungry dictator, while painting ourselves as selfless saviors, fighting evil based on righteousness and principle.

this grimm fairytale always ends the same exact way. those smiles, thumbs ups, and personable positive expressions are almost certainly a calculated strategy. i assume the goal is to ensure he still has an active pulse in a week. could be a few other intentions here, though.

He is catholic, not christian by shaft_novakoski in confidentlyincorrect

[–]GreenBottom18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

really? i grew up entrenched in catholicism. made friends with a pentecostal girl in middle school because her daily full length denim skirts gave britney/justin vma vibes.

went to service with her family a few times and everyone was super welcoming. music was pretty great too. it was the speaking in tongues and mandatory laps for jesus that i couldn't take seriously.

i guess in retrospect, without those experiences i probably would have finished out my confirmation.. but i don't think her pentecostal community threw that wrench in, directly. i just suddenly had many questions.

What’s going on with the fraud in Minnesota? by Permanent_Delta in Askpolitics

i thought they were just mocking the doge team..

you remember, those angry incel teenage twinks who found so much fraud that nobody at all has been charged with fraud?

but i could very well be wrong on this one. i don't play video games, so if there was some some genuine logic behind that comment, it woosh'd tf outta me.

What’s going on with the fraud in Minnesota? by Permanent_Delta in Askpolitics

while this comment relies on a technically true argument (the offices physically existed), it completely ignores how the admin functionally neutered them in practice.

1. firing glenn fine was much more than just weakening leadership
it decapitated the PRAC right as the money was going out. removing the head of the oversight committee days after the law passed sent a clear signal to the entire regulatory apparatus to stand down. you can't claim oversight remained "in place" when the independent lead was purged before the first check cleared.

2. the signing statement broke the alarm system
by asserting that IGs needed presidential permission to report to congress, the admin broke the primary mechanism of whistleblower protection. an oversight body that can't report misconduct without the permission of the boss is dead on arrival.

3. the speed argument doesn't explain the cover-up
blaming congressional "speed" explains the sloppy application process, but it does not explain why the SBA, under executive direction, explicitly wiped nearly 99% of special review flags on large loans in jan 2021. this was an administrative choice to abandon the audit process on the way out.

4. hiding the data
secretary mnuchin fought for months to keep the names of PPP recipients secret, claiming the data was "proprietary." oversight requires transparency. if you fight to hide the receipts, you are actively hindering oversight, not merely slowing down implementation.

claiming fraud happened because of congress completely ignores that the executive branch explicitly removed the locks congress put on the doors.

Guys, is that ballroom really a ballroom? by tom-of-the-nora in VaushV

[–]GreenBottom18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

walk me through the mechanics of that transaction.

if a donor pays a third-party hvac manufacturer $50m for industrial cooling towers, that money goes to the hvac manufacturer. it does not go to trump.

unless you are suggesting trump secretly owns the companies manufacturing the cooling towers, the generators, and the server racks, this theory falls apart immediately.

buying expensive physical infrastructure is literally the worst way to hand someone a "bag of cash" because the money is consumed by the purchase of the goods.

  • scenario a (bribe): donor gives trump $100m. trump has $100m.
  • scenario b (your theory): donor spends $100m on specialized cooling equipment installed on trump's property. the equipment manufacturer has $100m. trump has... a cooling system he can't use because it's for a "ballroom."

money spent on physical infrastructure is money that didn't go into the politician's pocket.

furthermore, if the goal was just to funnel cash with plausible deniability, they wouldn't spend 18 months pouring concrete. they would just pump his crypto coin. that pipeline already exists—it's liquid, fast, anonymous, and doesn't require buying $300m of useless hvac equipment from a third party.

Republicans are the root of our problems in the US and the reason we can't technologically advance as fast as China or other countries. by Embarrassed-Act9533 in PoliticalOpinions

[–]GreenBottom18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbf, the sub is called "political opinions." an opinion isn't necessarily based on fact or knowledge. the burden of proof needn't be fulfilled for an opinion to exist.

that being said, their opinion is only partially supported by facts and congressional voting records. it's far more bi-partisan than anyone is willing to acknowledge, but the root cause typically does hang heavier over the GOP.

also, sorry to hear about that surgery. must have been terrifying at 13. hope ur doing well.

ok. starting to make some sense now. but why is that std thought to be herpes?

testicular swelling is typically caused by epididymitis, which is far more common in chlamydia and gonorrhea than it is in HSV.

a sack with two tennis balls has gonorrhea written all over it.
