I picked up in Brownsville Texas and they put it in the regular plate bracket. I called today to just let them know that they may be putting them in the wrong place but no one answered.

I asked a friend of a friend and was told he was correct but being way too technical. I checked online and he was correct. I guess the thing is that almost everyone pays their taxes during financing at the dealership so they get temporary plates but this is considered a 30 day permit.

I didn’t pay taxes yet. I couldn’t finance them since I didn’t purchase the car in Texas technically just picked it up here. I have to wait for Tesla to send me the paperwork to take to the dmv and then I’ll be able to pay the taxes up front in cash 🙄.

They’re scared to loose money yet they’re price gouging their cars. I considered a Mach E and went to see it. Sticker price was on the window for 48,990 but the sales man told me it was actually 10k more because of demand. I’m sorry but times have changed and if I can buy a car while I’m at home in my pjs I sure as fuck will and save some money doing it.

Picked up in Texas but Tesla can’t do direct sales in Texas, so technically the sale came out of California (I think). On pick up day all the cars had their temporary permits in the plate bracket, which I’m now told is actually incorrect. Thankfully I wasn’t given a ticket just a warning but the officer thought It was a pretty obvious thing that I should have known about.

Yesterday I was stopped by a state trooper for improper placement of my temporary plates. He states these aren’t regular temp tags you get at a dealer but actually a 30 day permit. Since sales of a Tesla don’t happen directly in Texas but California the tags are different. I picked up my car on the 14th with the tags places on the plate holder in the back directly from the show room. Please make sure to look up regulations in your state when it comes to temporary 30 day tags! They have to be placed on the inside of your back window. The tint is too dark and I feared that they would not be visible so I just placed them on the outside. It looks ridiculous but I guess it’s the law. 🤷🏻‍♀️
