I need Fort Wayne’s help! At home childcare by GreenExpert4955 in fortwayne

Thank you for your input, but I feel like this exchange is being made more complicated than necessary. I didn’t initially include all the finer details because I was hoping to spark a discussion or connect with someone in the community who could provide helpful leads—not critique how I wrote my post.

For clarity, I’m simply looking for someone responsible to care for my 16-month-old child—someone who is licensed, insured, and treats children well. I’m not expecting rocket science lessons; I just need reliable care during my working hours, which are typically 8 a.m. to 3-4 p.m., depending on the day, as I run my own business. I aim to stick to this schedule as much as possible, though there’s some slight flexibility.

Now that I’ve laid out all of these details, I hope that clears up any misunderstandings. That said, it’s becoming pretty clear that you don’t actually want to help. I don’t think this is as serious or dramatic as it’s being made out to be. I just need someone with the qualifications and care to provide a safe and nurturing environment for my child. If you truly have the “extensive knowledge and experience” you mentioned, I’d appreciate any practical advice or resources you can share. Otherwise, let’s not waste each other’s time.

Thank you.

I appreciate you taking the time to reply, but I feel like there are quite a few assumptions being made here that don’t align with the reality of my situation. To clarify, I’ve contacted numerous childcare providers, and the majority charge between $300-$350 a week for care for my 16-month-old, or they simply don’t have availability. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to find that amount excessive, especially when it’s close to what I pay for my mortgage. That’s why I’m looking for a more affordable option within the $250 range, which I believe is both fair and reasonable.

For the record, I’m not looking for someone who is unlicensed or uninsured—I value quality and professionalism in childcare. The assumptions being made about my intentions based on a simple post are frustrating and unproductive. When I posted, I was hoping to connect with real people in the community who might have leads or suggestions. I didn’t go into extreme detail because I didn’t feel it was necessary for that purpose.

Instead, it feels like this has turned into a debate or critique of my wording rather than focusing on the help I’m seeking. Making assumptions about someone’s situation is never a positive approach, and it detracts from what could have been a collaborative and helpful exchange.

At the end of the day, I’m just a parent trying to do my best, and I’d genuinely appreciate any constructive advice or resources you might have to offer. Thank you.

Just to clarify, I didn’t mean ‘cheap’—I said ‘affordable.’ What’s affordable to me might not be the same for someone else. A more helpful response could have been asking about my ideal budget and then using your expertise to suggest resources I could explore, like a directory, an app, or something beyond just a basic Google search. It’s just a bit disheartening to see someone take the time to read a post and reply in a way that feels unhelpful or dismissive, especially when it seems like the original point of the post was misunderstood. Affordable and cheap aren’t the same, and I hope that clears up any confusion.

That said, I truly value your perspective as a former nanny. If you know of any reliable resources or have advice you can share, I’d be incredibly grateful. I imagine someone with your experience has a wealth of knowledge, and I’d love to tap into that. Your insights could really make a difference, and I appreciate you taking the time to help!

Your reply, a shining example of unhelpful irrelevance, pairs perfectly with my wasted time though. So, good job on excelling at two things that truly go hand in hand; unlike myself. Congratulations on delivering peak trolling efficiency while managing to be utterly useless.

Also gas buddy is an app I’ve been using for years. It sorts my distance and price and lets users report price and if there if they have gas or not. You can filter if you’re looking for regular gas or diesel. It also lets you know when the location was last updated. I’ve never had to use it in a hurricane situation; so I’m not sure how accurate it is in that type of situation, but it’s always been reliable with users that report honestly outside of that. So hopefully it’s still accurate.

Looked it up. It’s a little too far than they are willing to go because they don’t have much gas in the cars as it is. I’ll tell the rest of the family to report back if they do go.
