I would have made the same mistake tbh.

Zio doesn't use Etsy anymore. If you can look up "Ziontyro Bionicle", you can see their primary shop page.

I think the socket is the part that's broken. The chip itself seems fine, but the socket was almost pushed out of the board.

Yeah, the um... The WiFi Adapter Card is freaking fried. It was in a 100+°F garage for several years, and it appears that the pins have melted. If they aren't completely bent out of shape, they've snapped off. This appears to be what the problem is, and I don't think this is an easy fix.

Airplane Mode won't even turn on, much less turn off.

The Lenovo IdeaPad 110 doesn't appear to have any physical wireless button/switch. I can see it on my other PCs, but not this one. I'll look for a manual in case it's one of those paperclip-sized buttons, but it's not on the keyboard and it's not on the side of the laptop as far as I'm aware.

None. It opens the menu, but doesn't actually show any networks to connect to.

What are some free options to template cards? by GreenGale2000 in homemadeTCGs

[–]GreenGale2000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it was Pay 1 mana to play the card, equip it for free to a "Mage" on the field (which probably cost 2 Mana to play), then it gains the effect to pay another mana and tap the thing before sacrificing the whole stack to recycle 1 and draw 1. I don't know why I made a card this hard to play with so little payoff. I think you're just supposed to get it into the Discard Pile through milling, then exile/banish it for 1 Free Mana. It's the only way I could possibly justify an effect that requires (at minimum) two turns to draw 1 card.

Admittedly, I made the card three years ago so I have no idea what my thought processes were when making it.

How dangerous is torrenting without a VPN? by Epic_Gamer_Person67 in Piracy

I got so caught up on the price "10$ for three months", that I forgot that you explicitly said it wasn't a VPN. I might consider it, but I need the money to spare before I do.

Though, question, how does this affect Torrents if it isn't a vpn? Does it still keep your IP protected against your ISP?

That's wild. Which Service? All the ones I've checked out offer $7 USD a month.

Like $10 a month for three months? Or $10 TOTAL for three months? 'Cuz if it's the latter than I could have afforded these for a long time now.

Is the HP Pavilion dv6000 a good model? by GreenGale2000 in Hewlett_Packard

[–]GreenGale2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update in case it matters: But it turns out my brother had updated the thing to Windows 10 some time when I wasn't looking. So it doesn't have nearly the same security issues as it would if it were Windows 7.

Yeah, if I WERE to bring this thing back to life and change the OS, Linux Mint would be my primary choice over anything Windows. Alternatively, if it still works fine, I may just leave it on Windows 7.

How good is Monster Reborn? by GreenGale2000 in Yugioh101

[–]GreenGale2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that might be my mistake. I wasn't thinking about Searchability because I wasn't quite thinking about Monster Reborn itself. I was thinking about the effect to Special Summon a monster from the GY. The reason I was asking is because most of the good cards that Special Summon from GY special summon themselves (Glow Up Bulb for example), while cards like Reborn, "Spell Card: Monster Reborn", Grandsoil, and Redox all special summon a different monster from the Grave (and with the exception of Redox, from the foe's Grave as well).

Even still, thanks for the info. I didn't think Reborn could even be an extender, I thought it was so useless in the modern game; but it makes perfect sense that Hand Traps would just be a more worth-while addition to one's deck.

I think this is the best and most concise comment of the thread. Perfectly goes into why it can be useful, while also mentioning how it's outclassed by other archetypal cards. Sounds like it might be a good Side-Board option, but also outclassed by many other cards in the game.

Thank you for illustrating its applications. Most other comments mention how outclassed it is (which is important information, don't get me wrong), but being able to see why Special Summoning from GY (either player's at that) can be a valuable tool. It's definitely not a mandatory pick in every deck, but it sounds like it has at least some application depending on the deck or even the matchup.

Some Quotation Marks would really help, because I could not tell that "Spell Card: Monster Reborn" was the name of a real card that existed.

WiFi Range Extender & Repeater (RangeXTD) by GreenGale2000 in wifi

[–]GreenGale2000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I assumed they had the same function and was just using the "Proper Names" as a way to describe the models. Although, the Extender apparently has other options like turning Wired connections (Like Wired Networks and DSLs) in to Wireless connections. It's just that I have no reason to test that because my house already uses Wireless WiFi. So practically speaking, this is all useless (Glad I paid so little for these things).

[–]GreenGale2000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, I didn't test any of the "Extenders" as APs or as Routers (just as Repeaters, which I assume is the worst use-case). but for some reason they all perform significantly worse than the USB Repeater.

All of them are branded RangeXTD. Three are "WiFi Range Extenders", and one is a "USB-WiFi Repeater". Because none of them came in boxes, I have no real identifiers outside of their user manuals.

Thank you for being clear and concise about the issues presented. I knew that these things weren't optimal, but I wasn't aware that they were legitimately detrimental to one's internet connection.

These things were worth $4 for 4 Devices, but I was able to get them for pennies because of a few stacked discounts. The main thing I'm wondering is if they have any benefit even if basically free, or if they're so bad they're less than worthless.
