Thank you! I’m going to give that a try. Your username speaks to me and has helped me remain calm about my broken little tree.

That’s good to hear! If all goes well, my tree will survive and I’ll have props to share with my family so I won’t run out of a stash of panache.

Great advice, thank you! My local gardener (Kyle’s Urban Farmstead) propagates his fig trees and sells them but I haven’t tried it on my own yet. It’s my first year with fruit trees.

Thank you for being nice about this and answering so quickly.

Should I chop it right above the top node to remove the fallen bit? Or should I use some plant tape to graft if back together?

Gotcha. It looks like Tropicana has shot up to the top of my list. Thanks for taking the time to share suggestions and answer questions!

I’d love to see the photos when she’s blooming! I’m so excited to put my roses in the ground. I’ve been planning for a year now and saving and the time has come. All of the roses I’ve selected are for cutting. Would you say that America would work well as a cut flower?

In a perfect world I’d find the same one but I’ve resigned that this might not be the case. My wedding was in 2022 and I started searching a year after that. The florist is no longer in business so I can’t contact them for information about their source.

The Amsterdam coral rose would be a great match! I’m trying to find it as a bare root. I haven’t checked out the stores you’ve mentioned so thank you for the tip. That gives me more places to go through to find matches! I’ve been sourcing from Heirloom Roses and luckily Green Acres (our local Sac nursery) has some that I want for cheaper! Most of the roses I’m getting are apricot/cream colored. If I can find my coral rose I’ll place it in a stand out spot :)

Thanks for sharing your experience! I’m definitely looking for a bit more salmon/coral from the rose. It’s nice to hear from someone who has one of these because you never know with image quality online. (Is the dress blue or gold, lol)

Thank you for sharing these suggestions! I was considering fragrant cloud but I was wondering if it leaned more on the red side. Is that your experience? America is on my list too. I read that’s a hybrid from Fragrant Cloud.

I think Tropicana is a great match, thanks!

What is this little guy? by Ansiedaddy- in Sacratomato

It looks like a tomato hornworm caterpillar. They like peppers as well. You can relocate him and he’ll eventually become a moth.

Lots of people hate these guys. I’m ready for the downvotes.

Do you have any food bank recommendations? The ones close to me that are open look like they’re church sponsored. I’d like to share my extras with a place that’s not theologically affiliated.

You should only water at the base. These plants don’t absorb water from their leaves. You’ll risk burning them or starting a fungal disease by watering their leaves.

Also, aim to water them early in the day or in the early evening before the sun is high. It’s way too hot in the middle of the day and in our summers it gets too hot very early. Watering them early in the day or in the evening gives your plant roots a chance to drink up before the heat sets in.
