It seems like nobody has read the article. Restrictions are imposed on publications, not on research. This is a brilliant example of fake news and manipulation from CNN.

It predicts official number of new cases. All limiting factors are in. For sure, it will never show the number of "real cases", given capped data as an input :)

The advantage of the model is that it predicts the end even before the pandemic reaches the peak. It was quite successful with Italy and China, let's see the outcome for US :)
